Fabian Delph 2016/17 performances

He was injured quite a bit in the season before we bought him. He missed 10 games. My Villa supporting friend said he was a bit injury prone. Still for £8m, you can't complain too much.

Delph's a good player to have in the squad. Not sure why people are being so hard on him, apart from the fitness issue.
The question that comes up in my mind is, What was his injury record like at Villa? Because if it was as bad as this, then you have to wonder about our scouting (again). And if it wasn't, then you have to wonder (again) what's going on with players who seem to get here after a fairly injury free career and then become crocks, more or less.

Care to name some of those players?

If he can't stay fit then he'll find it very hard to fight his way into the team.

Can see him going to Crystal Palace or Southampton and Aaron Mooy taking his spot.

Thought Delph was a very good signing , but it appears he is never going to be fit enough to challenge for a first team place , similar problems to Barndoor Bony , they sign a £100k a week contract , and they are never off the treatment table , we should f*ck Delph off in January and give players like Garcia and Angelino their chance .

Is he still injured? Or does Pep just not fancy him?
Was wondering this myself
Said about Milner when he was here he could play right back in his sleep, good on the ball, will work up and down and put a decent ball in when up field
Feel the same about Delph at left back

I'd love to see this team now with Milner and Delph as full backs

Surely Pep could train him into being a decent fullback in the kind of system we use ? Ok, not overnight, but in time for next season ?

He's fast, good tackler, decent on the ball, can kick with both feet, competitive in the air, can cross, shoot, beat a man. That's more attributes than just about all the fullbacks currently playing anywhere have on their cvs. Most are total shite at one aspect of the game, at the very least, usually two or three.
