Fabian Delph 2016/17 performances

think he could well get minutes in the new year with the thick run of games... Fernando has seen plenty and I certainly don't see much difference in the two. plus he can play left back as well

shame he'll be injured again before he's back

he wont get with a bulls roar of our team. Not technically good enough for starters.

I don't think that's true. I think he's massively underrated technically, I'm not really sure why people think he's weak in that department.

He looked very good in preseason, seemed to really be embracing Pep's ideas and was very effective. We also know Guardiola believes players technique can be improved rapidly.

Unlikely to start or play a key role, but a very useful player to have around.

I'll be very pleased for him when he's back playing. He seems a good bloke, well liked and enjoying being here. It would certainly help with rotation having him back (especially if he's available over Christmas).

We'll need as many players as possible available for the Christmas period, so it'd be a bonus to get Delph back fit. Don't think he's part of Guardiola's long term plans, but he could certainly help out in the short term. I'd still like to see him tried out at full back.

Don't Understand the hate for Delph. While we all know he's not our most gifted player - he offers us a balance that we often lack and is a pretty versatile player. The closest thing we have to a Milner atm. He'll still play an important part this season I'm sure.

Can we change the name of this thread to "Fabian Delph 2016/2017 performances"

Yes I get it he is currently injured. But the most popular thread name for on of our players should not be "Delph injured" aren't we just biting at the tit for a self fulfilling prophecy?

It's fuking depressing this. Please I beg you, wish Fabian back to health with a better thread name.

This is an inaccurately named thread, can we change it to "Fabien Delph 2016/17 performance" as he's only appeared once.

Where's the hate? It's people basically saying he hasn't done anything for City yet, which is pretty indisputable. And then wondering if he ever will, which is understandable. As far as I can see, most think he's a likeable lad with a good attitude.

Who wears a flat cap and owns a greyhound track in Huddersfield :+)

Yes, what could possibly make people think Delph's getting some unfair stick.....?

Delph just doesn't have the qualities to be a midfielder under Pep

Total shite, as I said at the time of signing. A pointless purchase.

I agree...a pointless purchase....for the quote nothing more.

People (the press and general public) need to accept that english players are just not good enough on the whole.

Not good enough and never will be so I'm not really bothered if he can play or not as I very much doubt he would anyway.

Total and utter waste of space. Probably earnt 3 million quid since he signed and the only thing I can remember is him doing two things for city tv.

You may not have noticed but we're a level above that Pubs league concept now.
Seems a decent chap but he's never going to feature in a big way for this manager. Gone in the summer, imo.

A really nice guy , good club man , no trouble from him but ...... a waste of a spot in the squad.
Habitually injured and unfortunately not good enough when fit imo.
I'll say it again , say thanks ,move him on and replace him as a squad player with a ready made Aaron Mooy ... much better.

They could amputate his leg and he'd be no less use to us.

When he turned us down time ago saying he's not about money but first team football and joined Villa we should never have gone back in for him..
Who ever had this bright idea needs a double detonator.

He's had a brain transplant to play like Pirlo.

he wont get with a bulls roar of our team. Not technically good enough for starters.

I don't understand why Pep picked Delph ahead of Yaya in the Champions League list !

I do detect a little scepticism in some of the above posts ;)

Seriously, though, hate involves nastiness about someone's personality. And, even in the posts you have selected, people say he's a nice lad.

Not rated but not hated.
