Another Villa Fan! Been looking at your forum for the last few weeks (mostly to make sure Young's name doesn't apear here), it seems like a decent forum with some intelligent input.
I just thought I'd give you an insight into how City come across to outsiders in this Transfer window.........
To begin with it was with amazement with regards to the players linked with and the sums, however it has gradually dawned that these kind of World Class players just aren't buying into it.
City are pissing off clubs:
a) because you're after their best players i.e Everton.
b)good old fashioned jealousy
c)Most importantly of all Sparky himself!
I really liked the guy, but he has turned into Harry "gobshite" Redknapp, why doesn't he keep his mouth shut instead of commenting, it is disrespectful and winds people up. I don't buy the the bidding so as to negotiate with other teams, i.e palacios, but I do think you're in danger of making transfer targets much harder.
I think that's probably the main reasons for getting slated on the other forums, overall I think the majority still see City as one of us in the also rans trying to break the Cartel. Course if you do it, you'll be scum and we will say endlessley you bought it :).
On Gaz Baz, got no problems with him, he owed us nothing, was a great servant for 10 years (minus last summer) and can understand his reasons for going to city. I do think he has been slightly over hyped over the last couple of seasons especially when you consider his goal and asisst returns aren't great. However if you have the type of side that can afford to accomodate him in midfield (i.e lack of pace, limited goal threat, not great defensively, can go missing in big games) then his strengths will improve he team. He is so composed on the ball and very rarely loses posession to a tackle, he has great awarenes and intelligence into how he positions his body between the ball and the opposition and the timing of his touch as he turns away from the player. Not wasteful in posession, hardly ever a bad ball. Great vision and delivery of long passes. Seems to project calm to the rest of the team, especailly if you need to keep hold of the ball to take the momentum away from the opposition. Works hard, whilst not the quickest he does close down and get back.
I wish him well playing for you lot and I will clap him on his return, I'm guessing he's going to partner the little fella in he centre? (by the way I thought he was a class player ever since our dark days when he played against in that mauling with vassell.
Good luck for the season.
Welcome to the forum mate.
The problem Hughes has is the press. We are trying to conclude deals quickly. Did you hear hughes utter a word about Barry?
We have clubs trying to bleed us dry, Blackburn and now Everton are prime examples. I was very impressed with the way in which yourselves and us conducted the Barry deal and I get the impression that is how we want all our business to be. The problem is the press intensity is enormous on us at this time of year, far greater than you could of experienced and we have so we are learning. I am going to defend Hughes because of this. Take Terry for example. We bid, Chelsea make it public. Had Terry come out and flatly rejected us there would of been very little for Mark to comment on. However after 3 weeks he was going to be asked wasn't he?
Im very intrigued to see how Delph makes the steps up and congratulations on striking a deal with Ken Bates. Im not sure Leeds fans will be pleased that he accepted a lesser offer but that is of little concern now.
