I'm not sure how Hughes pissed Chelsea off! They moaned about the interest in Terry but City made an official bid which Chelsea revealled to the media, this then meant that Hughes had to make a comment about it. They made it public! Unless it was some other occasion you were referring to that Hughes pissed them off?

I think the Hughes comments about Terry maybe needing a change to get the most out of his career upset Chelsea.

And rightly so IMO, it shouldn't have been said.

sunday " we were never going to go back on our agreement with villa (made a week ago)"

tuesday " on saturday we accepted a bid, in principle, from city "

I still can't help but feeling that we have really missed out here, and lost out on a great player

How right you are.

To be fair though, Delph looked at the options (i'm assuming they were between us and Villa) and looked at the way the clubs are operating and how he would fit in to their operation, viz:-

He probably sees us as having a transfer and development policy like that Chelsea had two or three years ago and probably sees his chances of maintaining regular 1st team football as having limitations that to him are unattractive. The sort of mistake (of coming to us) he might think of making as SWP did when moving to Chelsea in 2006. Compare and contrast that with the 'organic' policy development adopted by Martin O'Neill in developing his youth academy (like us) and signing younger, highly talented players like Ashley Young and Curtis Davies. He may have noticed that whereas Moyes and O'Neill are committed - in the future - to blooding (Wenger-style) the academy teenagers, we are more likely to be giving priority to off-the-peg pros 10 years older with experience. i make this point because

Perhaps Delph sees more of a team spirit at clubs like Villa.

I saw the Peace Cup final on a sopcast on Sunday night and was impressed how they more than outplayed Juventus with a squad (minus the injured Heskey) that consisted of players like Delph. Albrighton, Lichaj, Lowry, Herd and those like Reo-Coker, Ashley Young, Shorey, Davies and Sidwell.

We may now be falling into the trap of being thought of as a club that may be unattractive given the likelihood that we are aiming for 'marque' signings come the transfer windows.

Probably a better career move for him by going to Villa. He'll fit in better at Villa as MON seems to like young english boys.....

Yeah, maybe i was too specific in saying the "negotiators", but either way, it's still Manchester City FC pissing off all these clubs, and it still concerns me. Remember these quote from Steve Bruce (link below)? It's not the first time we've bid for someone seemingly with no intention of buying them. The way we are conducting ourselves regarding transfers is annoying clubs with an alarming regularity. And it's only going to negatively impact on us with regards to trying to tie up future deals.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/wigan/4361938/Steve-Bruce-Manchester-City-disgusting-over-treatment-of-Wilson-Palacios.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/footba ... acios.html</a>

Whelan said that Bruce was talking rubbish.

i remember it, Bruce was askedLive after a game if Utd had been in for him, and live on air he said no, but someone else not a million of miles away were in for him.
Whelen stated that Bruce was the one who let it known and City has conducted themself properly andwent through correct channels and Bruce got it from Whelen in the press

good luck to the lad, it's a very good move for him. let's hope he can displace the headless chicken sidwell, who is singly handedly disproving the theory that midfielders become more composed as they get older. good luck to villa as well.

Hello City Fans

Another Villa Fan! Been looking at your forum for the last few weeks (mostly to make sure Young's name doesn't apear here), it seems like a decent forum with some intelligent input.

I just thought I'd give you an insight into how City come across to outsiders in this Transfer window.........

To begin with it was with amazement with regards to the players linked with and the sums, however it has gradually dawned that these kind of World Class players just aren't buying into it.

City are pissing off clubs:
a) because you're after their best players i.e Everton.
b)good old fashioned jealousy
c)Most importantly of all Sparky himself!

I really liked the guy, but he has turned into Harry "gobshite" Redknapp, why doesn't he keep his mouth shut instead of commenting, it is disrespectful and winds people up. I don't buy the the bidding so as to negotiate with other teams, i.e palacios, but I do think you're in danger of making transfer targets much harder.

I think that's probably the main reasons for getting slated on the other forums, overall I think the majority still see City as one of us in the also rans trying to break the Cartel. Course if you do it, you'll be scum and we will say endlessley you bought it :).

On Gaz Baz, got no problems with him, he owed us nothing, was a great servant for 10 years (minus last summer) and can understand his reasons for going to city. I do think he has been slightly over hyped over the last couple of seasons especially when you consider his goal and asisst returns aren't great. However if you have the type of side that can afford to accomodate him in midfield (i.e lack of pace, limited goal threat, not great defensively, can go missing in big games) then his strengths will improve he team. He is so composed on the ball and very rarely loses posession to a tackle, he has great awarenes and intelligence into how he positions his body between the ball and the opposition and the timing of his touch as he turns away from the player. Not wasteful in posession, hardly ever a bad ball. Great vision and delivery of long passes. Seems to project calm to the rest of the team, especailly if you need to keep hold of the ball to take the momentum away from the opposition. Works hard, whilst not the quickest he does close down and get back.

I wish him well playing for you lot and I will clap him on his return, I'm guessing he's going to partner the little fella in he centre? (by the way I thought he was a class player ever since our dark days when he played against in that mauling with vassell.

Good luck for the season.

Vladimir Weiss is more promising, the guy is pure class, showing all the signs of being a world class dribbler in the furture, and that free kick against chelsea was sweet.
