That likely means an enquiry to the club - it does not mean a formal offer - that depends on price and many things - why do people dream up other stuff / conspiracies

When the other club states publicly that we made a formal offer and it was accepted it's probably wise to consider the possibility that we may have made a formal offer. Even if it is Bates, it does us no good to be blind to things that don't show us in the best possible light.

Simple fact though, even if we didn't make a formal offer, Hughes was out of order saying that we had an interest in the player. Very Redknapp-esque, and very much against what Hughes himself said once about talking about players contracted to other clubs.

We fuked that one up
Could of had him but asking for a week to think about it why??

could be way off the mark, but maybe hughes doesnt want too overload the squad and he has someone else, elm or alonso (a far shot) lined up and delph was a back up?

I still can't help but feeling that we have really missed out here, and lost out on a great player

Fookin dead right, we have missed out on the best two footed teenager in the country, really pisses me off when we spent fookin twelve months trying to buy an EPL journeyman.

no probs we wait a couple of years untill we know he can handle it then we get him!
he'll play more games with villa than with us

Jeez - what is wrong with some of you guys - FFS CITY cannot win if this is what their supposed fans get up to - it is bad enough the press being so pro-Sky 4 that they print bollocks and some managers such as Bruce, Moyes and O'Neill jockeying for fergisescim's job that they say anything to find favour without our own fans dreaming up total negative bollocks

1. the Palcios issue was all bollocks - as proven by the Wigan owner

2. Re Delph - Hughes said "..we have an interest..."

That likely means an enquiry to the club - it does not mean a formal offer - that depends on price and many things - why do people dream up other stuff / conspiracies - let the negative media do their own work and there are enough fergiescum acolytes saying whatever bollocks he likes without our own fans joining his club

Even if we made a bid - it is just a process - make a bid it is either rejected or accepted

And who in their right mind would accept whatever Bates has to say - bent as they come - and probably just pissed off that our interest did not become an auction to his advantage

We have handled our business superbly (IMO) and it is right for all other clubs to recognise the new power – but they all get anti-CITY for self-interest reasons – why are you helping

Spot on. Too many corporal jones on this board. dont panic, FFS get a grip.

that could be the case with Sturridge as well. On the other hand they could both flop spectacularly.

Darren Eadie was supposed to be the English Maradona remember. You just don't know with young players. Everything involving young players especially not properly tested at the top level yet is a game of chance.

Wasn't it Hughes who pissed off Everton and Chelsea though, with his comments?
Yeah, maybe i was too specific in saying the "negotiators", but either way, it's still Manchester City FC pissing off all these clubs, and it still concerns me. Remember these quote from Steve Bruce (link below)? It's not the first time we've bid for someone seemingly with no intention of buying them. The way we are conducting ourselves regarding transfers is annoying clubs with an alarming regularity. And it's only going to negatively impact on us with regards to trying to tie up future deals.

I'm not sure how Hughes pissed Chelsea off! They moaned about the interest in Terry but City made an official bid which Chelsea revealled to the media, this then meant that Hughes had to make a comment about it. They made it public! Unless it was some other occasion you were referring to that Hughes pissed them off?

Whelan said that Bruce was talking rubbish.
