Fabian Delph

Only people with little understanding of the game don't rate Barry. He was instrumental in our 1st title. No Barry = no title, it's As simple as that.

Delph will be good I reckon

Totally agree mate. Barry was like the opposite of Milner. His game was based on intelligence, subtelty, reading the game, quick, incisive decision making.

I think Delph has got some of those attributes, but with a bit of the pace and athleticism of Milner thrown in. He'll be a huge updgrade in centre midfield on Fernando and Milner, which is why he's being brought in.

We have squad players already in our 1st 11.

Agreed. And hopefully the rest of our targets this summer will rectify that, but we still need to bring in another midfielder as a squad player. Delph isn't a world beater, but the difference is, unlike in previous season's when we settled for alternatives, Delph, just like Pogba, KDB and Sterling is the best option, there's nobody better that meets the criteria (i.e homegrown and willing to come as a squad player) that could come in and do that role.

I am coming to terms with this being a decent signing, but if he is our only central midfield acquisition this summer then we are going to struggle next season in regards to controlling the midfield in the bigger games, also relying too much on Yaya again.

United look set to add Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin in the next few weeks, big additions.

Completely agree.

Txixi needs to get out of this sluggish mode and proper kick on these next few weeks. CM is the biggest priority.

Good business. A few years back we'd have been paying £20m for him. Barry's best asset was knowing how and when to win us a free kick and also how to cover for the full backs. I think Delph has a bit more about him and could easily develop into that kind of intelligent and disciplined player - wasn't Barry about 5 years older than Delph is now when we signed him? In any event last season we had too many opposition players strolling through our midfield as if they weren't there someone who can chase and niggle at the opposition slightly higher up the pitch than where Fernando used to sit is most welcome

What, are you trying to prove how blue you are?

He's easily the most improved player in the league over the past season and more and I'll be glad when he fucks off to Madrid.

Trying to prove how blue I am? Err, no.

I wouldn't know if he's 'the most improved player in the league over the past season or more', I obviously don't watch the rags as much as you, or pay as much attention to the hyperbole in the press regarding your nominee.
I was just offering a differing example of what else 'the most improved player in the league over the last year or more' has done in that timeframe.

Now where's the 'rags vs. Leicester' clip, where your boy let another 5 in?

This is the reason I am hopeful we are going to go for a world class midfielder like Pogba.

Only reason why I think we have gone for Delph over Schneirderlin is because of budget.

This is of course under the assumption we will sign Pogba, I think the main reason is because he wouldn't come here over United. He's guaranteed to be the main man in midfield at United, he's nowhere near guaranteed a place in our starting lineup.

Or...we might of/have been looking at him for some time? Strange innit.
