He is 21 so won't take up a foreign spot this year, he will after this one and by then we might be in a position to move some of our players. However I don't really see this happening considering Sagna and Zaba havn't been linked away at all.

I wouldn't be surprised if its a tactic to raise the price for the Rags who are desperately in need of a RB.

He will in CL squad though.

Under 21s must be at a club at least 2 years to qualify for B list.

He'd take up a squad spot in the Premier League too. Last years Premier League squad rules stated the following:-

For the 2014/15 campaign Under-21 players will have been born on or after 1 January 1993.

So, therefore for the 2015/16 season a player must be born on or after 1st January 1994.

Fabinho was born 23rd October 1993, therefore he'd need to take 1 of the 17 foreign spots in the 25 man squad.

£18mil (pounds) valuation?.....At that price I think he would be seen as the starting RB or a starting role in midfield...(depending on where City want to play him)

Manchester City monitoring Monaco star Fabinho

City director Txiki Begiristain is driving the Premier League club's interest in the full-back but his £18 million valuation could prove a stumbling block

Manchester Cityare considering a move forMonacoright-backFabinho,Goalunderstands.

The 21-year-old was part of Dunga's Brazil squad for Copa America although failed to make an appearance in Chile as the Selecao were dumped out at the quarter-final stage by Paraguay.

Goal understands that City have been monitoring the defender closely in recent weeks, with director Txiki Begiristain driving the Premier League club's interest in the Brazilian.

Any negotiations are, however, likely to be held up over a fee for the promising full-back, who has been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United, with Monaco determined to hold out for a figure in the region of £18 million.

City value the defender, who has two full caps for Brazil, at the £8m mark but could well change their stance should they be convinced he will be ready to eventually replace first-choice right-back Pablo Zabaleta.

Once on Real Madrid's books, Fabinho only made one appearance for the Liga giants after signing on a temporary deal from Rio Ave back in 2012, where he was frequently utilised in the club's 'B' team.

He then made the switch to Ligue 1 with Monaco, where he has emerged as the club's first-choice right-back and made over 60 appearances for Leonardo Jardim's side over the last couple of seasons.

Monaco moved to make Fabinho's loan deal permanent back in May 2015 although his rapid rise has alerted the attention of City, who are considering a deal for a player that the club's scouts believe could develop into a top-class right-back.

Oh well my bad. Either ways one of Zaba and Sagna would have to leave (Sagna obviously). Don't really see this happening.

I think it's possible, but dependent upon Sagna being willing to leave. With both Zaba and Sagna being in their 30's it's no secret that sooner rather than later we need to address right back, by bringing in a younger talent. Zaba's got 2 or 3 good years left in him, however I was unimpressed by Sagna last season, and I'd be more than happy for him to move on. I wonder, Sagna's French, could there be any traction in trying to include him as part of any deal for Fabinho? Gives Monaco a short term right back option, gets Sagna off our books too?

Unless we are interested in him for the DM role and Fernando leaves.

I think there's less chance of Fernando leaving than Sagna, he'll have longer left on his contract so be less likely to be open to moving on, plus I think Fernando is actually a bit hard done by when it comes to people's opinions on his ability. He's a purely defensive midfielder, like Makelele was a purely defensive midfielder. If we stop trying to make him what he isn't, a ball playing midfielder, and just use him to protect the back four (in games where we need this role) then he'll have a role to play for City next season. He's quicker and more manoeuvrable than Garcia was, plus he was clearly scouted extensively. They must have seen something many of us are missing, dumping him after just 12 months in a new, quicker, league, seems very knee jerk to me.

whatever we decide Im still hopeful that Maffeo will be our RB solution within 3 years, so for me it would have to be lose Sagna for Fabinho and then let ageing take its course ready for Pablo MkI to make way for Pablo MkII.
