Hes brilliant going forward but very average defending.
Kolarov and Zabaleta are both better options.
There's 0% chance we'll sign another left back, not even close to being a problem area.

So we still need a backup to Kolarov though. Maybe someon even average, just for competition and safety. Had we gone for Coentrao, I have no doubt in my mind he would have benched Kolarov with ease.BlueCityfan said:Yeah sure...he will only cost 2x more than Coentrao. Now we aren't going for him...
But honestly..if we are going to use Kolarov as our first choice next year too.......
He is a good back up..but we only have him and we need another LB to rotate. Coentrao is one of the best...
Hopefully this is not true..

We need more players that are nailed on to start in the squad if we are to improve e.g. Sanchez, Pastore, Subotic etc It takes time (years) and money to build a starting 11 that can actually go out and beat the best time and time again.

Couldn't agree more.
We simply don't have the quality,or rather, depth of quality at present,Mancini has bought poorly, that is fact, and if it wasn't for the lesser standard of the teams around us we would not currently be in fourth place.I honestly don't believe we have made significant progress this season, certainly not enough for the manager to be given the opportunity to waste even more money and, more importantly, time.
Regarding Coentrao,if we can't get him, then we have to find an equal,as Kolarov simply isn't good enough.
At least with Balo,Boateng and Yaya, while the're inconsistent and unreliable and probably not the type of players we required at the time, the evidence is there that they can improve and may eventually prove decent purchases.

Players always want to go to bigger clubs. It is just the nature of things. Just like I would want to go work for a bigger firm with bigger perks. Players are the same. They are human. If Google Legal comes for me today, and offer me 2ice my salary, longer vacation days and training seminars in cool European countries. Ofcourse I will lose my current firm like a bad rash. It is not like I don't like my firm, I do- and I love my work. I just think life would be fuller and more entertaining at a better organization. And footballers are even more moveable than regular workers. So if Bayern has put in an offer for him, and the club agrees to it. It is unlikely they he would reject it.BlueCityfan said:Mad 4 It said:The mirror are reporting Chelsea are in for Van Der Weil who was my back up if we didn't get Coentrao. He is a right-back. So he wouldn't be the answere.
I hope Coentrao doesn't want to go to Bayern. This isn't confirmed yet. Only goal.com and some portuguese shit papers report this.
Hopefully it was never even happening.
