Fabregas

Fabregas scored 3 goals last season. Ireland scored 13. Ireland is only 22 and had a far better season than the half season fabregas managed last year. IMHO I would have Ireland in our team over fabregas. the fact he is not a mard arse is also a bonus. The same Fabregas that doesnt get into the Spain team over a fully fit Marcos Senna. Im not doubting he is a top player but he is not world class.

Agree to disagree on this one. Fabregas hardly played last season and players can't be judged on goals alone unless they are strikers. Arsenal were not the same threat without him. Would Ireland get in Spains team ahead of Senna, no i doubt it. Ireland probably wouldnt get in Spains squad at the minute.

Yes Ireland had a great season, his one great season thus far, but he has to do it again this year, and he has to shine against the top clubs and by that i prob mean the top 4 which he has yet to do for me.

the bit in bold ......... I'm sure that I heard some stats on SSN that basically said that last season the Arsenal team had ever so slightly better stats without Fabregas than with him. SSN were talking about something like 1% better

Stats can prove whatever you want. I'd rather face an arsenal side without him playing than with him.

Fair enough, However I remember him running the rags ragged under Sven, He also was instrumental in us beating Arsenal this season.

I know its not the best way to judge them but they are creative midfielders and Ireland created far more than Cesc this season. Ok he had injury problems but Irealnd played the majority of the season in strapping. I believe Ireland will go on to make far more of an imapct on the Premier League than Cesc.

Granted I think Ireland might do and of course I hope he does. I just think Fabregas is a better player at this stage - he started earlier and has always had better player around him and that has to be taken into consideration. At this moment in time I would say Cesc IS world class and Ireland has the potential to be so. I wouldn't swap them.

And yeah Ireland was great in the OT win.

He'll never be a City player, which is a shame. Him and Barry would be awesome together[/quote]

Honest to God, I don't see him as being any better that Superman. He's a bit younger but that's about it.
