To be honest although we'd be loathe to admit it, losing out United doesn't really make anyone look bad.

Anyway, football isn't about looking good or bad but results on the pitch, in case you hadn't notice.

Typical modern fan who's more concerned with the off-field bullshit (and at the end of the day, that's all it is) because they spend more time on internet forums than actually watching football.

I haven't read all the pages but it has been publicised in the last couple of days that Barca wont meet the asking price for Fabregas, when I first heard that I though Arsenal had put too high a figure on him. I then read that Arsenal were looking for in the region of £35m. I was just wondering what peoples thoughts were on what a fair price would be for a Fabregas. And whether City fans would be happy to see us spend £35m for him?

Well bearing in mind it looks as though we are going to stump up 35m for a 22 year old with no experience in prem, same price for a proven world class midfield player for the same price would be a snip IMO.

Simply put, Fabregas to City for 35m would be the signing of the fucking century. And then some. And then very likely some more.

Shame he'd just want to go to Barca in a year though, lol.

£35m for Fabregas is a bargain IMO, if Barca won't pay the price then we could get him. I was told a few weeks ago by somebody who does know people in the club that we were close to signing him but TBH I didn't believe it.

why would arsenal sell him to us unless for some astronomical fee of 50m+? why would he prefer us? I can see every reason for him to want to go to Barca, but not one for him to come here.............am i blind?

No you're spot on. That's why it would be an amazing signing. IMO we could never sign Fabregas for less than a Torres-esque figure.

I suspect that if we knew Fabregas would join city and the asking price was 75m we would pay that and not even blink.

Perhaps its not so much a case of wanting to go to Barca than it is wanting to actually achieve more than a top 4 finish in his career. Barcelona might just be his excuse to leave. I doubt he'd want to go there so badly if they were some relegation fodder side in Spain.

But thats just an alternative speculation.

We have a brighter future than Arsenal, Odemwingie just turned them down, claiming the wages they offered were "peanuts"! Says it all.

Fabregas will have to make some decisions if Barca don't buy him soon - keep waiting, stick with Arsenal, or go to an established club that wins things or an exciting project that is likely to win things. Inter, AC, City, Chelsea... United. :x

what if we say to fabregas we will buy u for 40m and sell u to barca in 2-3 years for 20m (when xavi retires)

Ah shit yeah, I forgot we actually win stuff now. Takes time!

I have to agree if he is available for that kind of money then it would be a good deal and I do think prospects of winning are improving at city and declining at Arsenal. Maybe Arsenal wouldn't sell to City, then again a player plus cash option might be an option, Shay Given????

Who knows what will happen but I was suprised that Barca thought £35m for him was overpriced.
