Fabregas

This reminds me of our pursuit of Daniele de Rossi last season.
What I find odd about this is the idea that a starting bid of £25m, followed by a second bid of £30m, would ever be adequate.

In this market, for a player of Cesc's huge talent, proven track record, age and contract situation (i.e. still with many years to run), the starting bid should have been £35m, with the aim of doing a deal at £40 - 45m. Anything less is just insulting time wasting.

Odd. Seems a bit amateur but perhaps there's more to this than meets the eye.

Absolutely but they are pissing in the wind imho and they have lost out on a realistic target in Strootman by chasing the impossible.

I would confidently place Strootman behind Fellani. Maybe on a par with Cabaye. Fabregas above them all.

Keep bidding rags and Barca keep saying no in fact report them to UEFA for poaching that would be nice......:-)

Wheres that cat and the popcorn?

Nothing to see here - this is just a further episode in their campaign of misinformation to their own fans that they are genuinely in for the biggest players in the world, and have the kind of money required to compete for these players - neither of which are true.

We will see a lot of this over the course of the summer - like Moyes' comments about having no budget to adhere to (which is more or less true, but not in the sense that he meant it!), and subsequent story that they were going to buy Bale and Ronaldo - which is so clearly absolute rubbish that surely only the most gullible, myopic and pig-thick Rags would actually fall for it. Which is most of them, to be fair - so it should work!

Its a load of bollocks, designed at keeping their fans on side during a period of transition for them, and the encroaching realisation that they've got a shit Manager and a squad that's been punching above its weight for a couple of seasons now due largely to the man who has just left them. And the Club needs them to keep buying their season tickets and piling into the Club shop despite these two glaringly obvious facts.

Barcelona won't sell after losing Thiago, Fabreags has already said this summer that he doesn't want the move, and the Rags can't afford him. For these three reasons, this move isn't going to happen.

This is my favourite BM quote ever.

Still the papers go on... amazing. Every day seems to feature a back page about the might of United in the transfer market (with nothing yet to show for it).

He would improve our title chances hugely. Whatever we offer will be worth it, and Barcelona know it.

Trouble is there are no suitable replacement for Fabregas available and they are not going to fuck up again after losing Thiago Alcantara imho.
