Has anyone heard that he apparently failed a medical at Real Madrid, that's why they pulled out. City did'nt know this at first so was interested till they found out, so pulled the plug on the deal.

And this is not just a coincidence that this came out now after we missed out
Just seem's strange that they was all set to sign him and then pulled out and now have signed little penis instead.
True. Clearly he was not a priority for them

Yes, because we were piss poor last year weren't we?

No but we have to keep strengthening and getting the very best players are required for that. Also, commercially, getting in a new big name player once in awhile can be good business.

But at the start of the window we all said we needed to strengthen defence and centre midfield which we have done, none of us mentioned a new centre forward. Think the big name and strengthening the forwards will come next summer.

I don't think anyone said that we shouldn't replace Negredo if he goes...

The point is that yes our squad is great but we have basically shown Negredo the door without having anything concrete in place to replace him. Its a big gamble going into a season with 3 strikers two of which spent half the season on the bench last year.

People saying "We don't need another striker, look at last season" are forgetting that Negredo contributed 23 goals and Yaya 24 in all competitions. For starters, Negredo is out of the picture at the moment, either through a sale or his injury, while Yaya will probably never have another season like he did last year, especially given how he looks like he doesn't want to be here.

But Jovetic is already past his league tally from last season.

Your comment is petty to begin with but I'll lower myself even further; no he isn't.
On the other hand maybe Aguero will stay fit

That would be funny, especially if he fails at the rags!

There must be some issues regarding his fitness or bayern and chelsea would also been interested!
They have their squads in place

Chelsea were very much in for him at the start of the window and made enquiries but baulked at the package

Obviously plumped for Costa instead which may of been a shrewd move considering the market

Yeah, after next summer.

By then they can sell a player to offset it, probably Mata or Van Persie.

United will have held an ace card if they have indeed guaranteed to purchase.

His loan fee will also come off the asking price, no doubt.

Mendes isn't daft enough to send him on loan to City or anywhere else if he can also rely on a £50m plus balancing payment.

If I were Arsenal, I'd offer United £10m for Van Persie!
Thought RVP had a knee injury? Or is that over-exaggerated?

I don't think Arsenal could get anywhere to matching RVP's wages. Supposed to be around £250k pw

Utd are stuck with RVP.

United would certainly have to pay Van Persie off, and that's too much even for them!

Like Rooney, they are creating gilded cages for players who are getting older.

Something we have done with Yaya.

We've got £25m burning a hole in our pocket, outside of Negredo.

The team, despite being great champions, needed a lift IMO, even with the restrictions.

Arsenal did this with Sanchez, Chelsea with Fabregas, United with Di Maria/Falcao and Liverpool with Balotelli.

Sometimes it is about making your rivals sit up and take notice. Especially so, when we failed to do so the last time after a title win.

Whether it's next summer or not doesn't matter. In effect Utd have signed him for fucking gazillions & he'll be 30 years old when they pay the next installment.

I can understand that it would give City a lift to sign a big name player, but not 50 mil for a 30 year old with questionable fitness.

Out of the 'big' players available so far, imo only Falcao & Di Maria would be adding something to City. Both are vastly overpriced & we needed a centre back anyway. Utd have bullshitted this transfer market to show off rather than signing the players they need as a priority. We did great business last season & won two trophies. Imo, we have done it again.

We can't expect not to have competition. We are competitive in every tournament with a chance of winning any, & will probably be much stronger again one year from now.

Sometimes you have to be sensible & stick to a plan of building a team. If we don't snare any big player now, next summer we will be in great shape to choose who we want & possibly have one or two kids coming through as well.

My bad he had 2, but surely he is going to have more ! And no I wasn't being petty, I was just pointing out that Jovetic wasn't fit all year and his goals will be added to the tally.
