Apart from the already mentioned Big Star and Shack,The Scars released one lp in '81 " Author Author",Long Ryders, The Replacements,even Kurt Cobain said he ripped them off big time,The Zombies favourite 60's band one hit and then nothing.

A couple of bands from Ireland that I am a bit surprised never broke the England with there music. Duke Special and Republic Of Loose I dont know how they havnt got the break in the UK.
