My sister was into drugs (nowt heavy but daily nonetheless) and ended up in a hospital for 3 years. It completely fooked her life up at the time and she ran me ragged with her phone calls when she was having an "episode."
She is better now (ish), but the years lost have left a profound effect on her.

We have a neighbour in a similar state and he is threatening and scary. He smoked loads of weed over the last few years. Sorry about your sister. I can see why that would affect your outlook.
