And for those of you that liked 'City of God' check out Carindiru, a quite brilliant Brazilian movie based on a infamous prison riot that happened in the 90's.

The above have all sprung to mind, there's loads of others.

The Counterfeiters based on a true story of a Nazi concentration camp which part is set to up forge foreign currencies to bring down the economies of the world. 2007.



The Lives of others. It's about the Stasi snooping on an author and actress wife. It won a few awards. Oscar I think 2006

this gets my vote. most people probably only know it as the basis of all the hitler spoofs on youtube but it's a fantastic film with a brilliant performance by bruno ganz as hitler.

I watched a film called Y tu Mama Tambien (And your mam too) last night. Wasn't porn or anything, just a good film about a couple of Mexicans on a trip with this bird, a few things happen, the characters are richer for the experience at the end. After watching it, I was quite moved. I'd say it's in my top 50 of all time.

Anyway, your selections please and I might give them a watch:

Three not already mentioned on here:

Tampopo - A Japanese film about two truck drivers who help the owner of a run-down roadside Noodle Bar turn it into a high-quality one. A visit to Wagamama will never seem the same again.

Amores Perros - A Mexican film that uses a car crash to weave storylines involving three different groups of characters together.

La Vie Du Chateau - Very funny French film set in Normandy in 1944. Could really be regarded as the precursor to 'Allo 'Allo, mixing comedy, occupying Germans and French Resistance.
