FC Copenhagen (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

First half good, some nice goals. Akanji's took me by surprise, from a corner! It just flew in. Second half was contained (tedious if I am honest) but we did the job, rested players and aside from Nunes we appear to have come out unscathed as regards injuries. I didn't realise it was his finger until I read it on here, at the time I thought it was his knee the way he was on the ground and waving an arm.

Akanji was good throughout, Kovacic played well too. I thought Gomez performed well when he came on, it's a pity no one got on the end of his cross that swept across the 6 yard box which aside from Lewis hitting the crossbar at the end was the only bit of excitement in the second half.

Killed the game off in under 15mins. Reverted to cruise control and preparing for future matches.

Bobb and Alvarez were lively in first half. Became training mode in the 2nd half.

It was to be expected with so many changes and pretty much already qualified. It is a testament to this group of players and manager that we can make this round look straightforward. It shows a lot of growth and maturity in the champions league.

Fair play to Copenhagen for giving it a go.

City don’t do fuck ups in this cup anymore. It will take another big club to knock us out.

Players got a much needed rest.

That’s probably our last somewhat easy fixture now. Time to step up again if possible.

Glad we finished the game off early. Copenhagen carved us open far too frequently for my liking.

Yeah, and sometimes we may take it for granted, cruising through to the quarters. No matter who you play, its not to be sniffed at, doing it this comfortably. Real Madrid only got through by one goal. Arsenal are behind in their tie so far etc etc. Every team at this stage are handy. Copenhagen would've give most teams a proper game tonight, they're not bad at all. Not many excellent players but work well as a team.

At my pub and after half time spent more time with an eye on Madrid Leipzig. Comfortable win, but I had a funny story come out of it.

As is typical, my pub was populated with “neutrals” who all hate City, and a few Madrid fans. The owner is a Palace fan, Tony, with soft spot for City and despite six tellies he has only one speaker system so had to chose between City and Madrid matches for the speaker, and put it on City for me and a buddy, his two City regulars. Also at issue: the City match was on a major US network; the Madrid match was only broadcast on a Spanish network.

One old bastard at the bar — an Irish rag I’ve encountered before — complained. “Why not put the Madrid match on speaker, Tony?”

From the back of the pub comes a voice from a City fan I didn’t know was there.

“Because you don’t speak Spanish, you absolute fucking dickhead.”

It was incredible.
An old paraffin lamp Irish rag comes in the pub I frequent stinking out the place. The bartender says scruffy Jim (not that one) gets in for 75% of rag games but never ever misses one of ours

As for the second half when Gomez replaced Rodri, very poor.
Can’t see how Gomez fits in this team, especially in midfield, giving the ball away on numerous occasions.
I think Phillips could have done a better job if not out on loan
