Re: FC United - campaigners mount legal challenge (page 24)
Just thought i would update the thread to let all you blues supporters know what is happening with the FC Stadium proposed build.
The local residents (RURA - Residents United Residents Association) fighting the development of FC United's stadium on the Ronald Johnson Playing Fields in Moston, have started fundraising to pay for a barrister as they been able to secure a Judicial Review against the proposal.
The Manchester Evening News reported on this recently and stated that RURA had already raised £10,000 for legal costs - we have no idea where they got that sum from, but it certainly wasn't from RURA and we really wish we did have that amount!
Needless to say, a fundraising plan is in place and bringing in much needed funds to assist us. Whilst FC United have had their legal fees paid for via public funding, local residents fighting the proposal have had no such luxury.
A few local fundraising activites are planned and another method to raise funds has been to set up a paypal account for anyone unable to take part in these local activities but would like to contribute to our cause.
All monies raised go 100% to hiring the barrister. There is a set amount we need to raise - though we do not wish to divulge the total costings on an open forum - we know this thread is widely read by our friends at FC United ;)
Once that set sum has been reached, the fundraising will end.
If anyone would like to donate via paypal to RURA then please do so using this account: rura_m40@hotmail.co.uk
All contributions no mater how small will be appreciated.
Thanks
