FC United thread

a further point on this...the whole Commonwealth shebang...inc new stadium ...could not have gone forward without an end user for the stadium...this was always going to be City
I remember at the time Jonathan Edwards and Paula Radcliffe moaning about City getting the Stadium and that it should be left as an athletics ground and Steve Cram putting them both right by stating that if it wasn’t for Manchester City then there would not have been a Commonwealth Games. If they would have had there way East Manchester would not have got the investment it has in the past decades.

Over the years I've put straight a few friends and acquaintances who support other clubs around the country regarding this by saying, in brief and using approximate values:

- no move by City, no Commonwealth Games
- no Manchester Games, no London Olympics
- City's only real asset (Maine Road) given in lieu
- Manchester Council got an asset worth £20M+
- City finished the Games stadium (cost £25M)
- since 2008, City redeveloped E Manchester
- E Manchester benefits? £200M investment!
- still more development yet to come..
- oh and stick that in yer pipe and smoke it..

I usually found this shut the f**kers up..!!

True story was when Manchester bid for the Olympic Games, the stadium was going to be offered to united
how lucky were we losing the bid hahahahaah, the people of Manchester and east Manchester would be living in a shithole right now

birmingham 2022 commonwealth games stadium will be a white elephant and under used because how major athletics events take place each year ? Manchester city take over was never free, we even had to spend millions on building the part of the ground that was open,

if you think, how much Maine road plus the land was worth in moss side and how much we pay each year for using it
i think we have paid back the price it cost to build back in 2000 ? £119 million over the last 20 years

You tell them, unfortunately the narrative is spun and they don't believe a word of what we tell them.

Floating around mid-table going nowhere and have now lost their best, many would say only, player.

Just 2 PTS off a play off place and 7th mate.

The Commonwealth Games had been awarded to Manchester, but if we hadn’t agreed to take on the new stadium, a temporary one would have been used for the Games.

I hear the glazer will be looking to buy another football when they sell united. I just wonder hahaha for a joke if they bought FCUM and promised to get them into League 2, what sort of shit would go down in moston

also, if I ever won the euro lotto I would buy Fcum and turn Broadhurst park it back into greenfields
I can picture it now ? me and thousands of people from Moston, singing loud and proud, build a bonfire, build a bonfire, stack the pallets way up high, put Fcum in the middle and burn the fucking lot,

I reckon even @Mad Eyed Screamer would come home for that.
