FC United Thread

I wasn't joking. The land would go for a nice price.

Presumably it cost a nice price to buy it in the first place. And it would cost a nice price to buy a replacement ground. Unless the plan was to fold the club for the price of the site all along.

Salford City have played there for several decades and I think it was the home to Broughton Rangers (rugby - not sure which code) before that. The costs incurred have been for redeveloping it from a typical non-league stadium to a basic league ground.

Edit - Just looked at Wiki - Manchester Rugby Club played there from 1908 to 1969, and Salford City moved there in 1978.
Looks like Broughton Rangers were a rugby league team who played a mile or two away and later moved to Gorton and played at Belle Vue.

‘Breakaway’ club that didn’t actually break away.
A low rent tribute act and nothing more
I remember back in 2005 worked with a lad who was one of the founding members of FC United and asked him why they were doing this and not going to watch ushited again. He obviously told me that it was about the Glazers and what they were doing to United. I said we had put up with Swales for years but we never gave up on our club. That's the difference .

And when it came down to it, we mobilised and got him out, instead of talking our ball and running away

Cannot understand how or why FC United fans have changed ?
When they started they had some witty songs about other Non-League teams, even having a pop at Plug/Rio about staying "loyal" to 3pm fixtures and not changing kick-off times.
They had some great, national publicity about being a "people/members" team, but that seems to have stopped ?
Haven't seen them for c. 10 years as stopped going to see Non-League footy, but they were defiant that they were all about their team and not about the rivalries of MUFC ?

that same fans/people board members running the club fuck them over taking cash for themselves, hahahahahaha
it's now part owned by the Manchester city council in loans own and stadium

Broughton Rangers played at The Cliff in Broughton until 1933, when they moved to Belle Vue.
The rags moved into The Cliff in 1938
