Punk football.
They certainly had a few Malcolm McLaren type figures running the club.
Cash from chaos.
The great rock n goal swindle
S(Punk) football..
They have shot their load and are flaccid and deflating rapidly.
Cannot see them ever getting out of their current League. They have lost the ability to pay more than other teams could afford, which got them promoted from previous, lower divisions.
Champagne socialists who soon found out that "some are more equal than others"...

The NPL Premier Division is where things get really tough in the pyramid. There’s no soft teams at that level and pretty much anyone can beat anyone else. They made it out once and IIRC only lasted a season in the Conference North (where many of the teams are full-time professional). I agree that they’re stuck where they are for a good while yet. They’ve lost their luster as an attractive place to play. Even their closest division rivals by distance, Radcliffe and Ashton United have vastly superior squads.

I think they lasted 3 seasons in the Conference North but were punching way above their weight and struggled each season and eventually the crippling debts effected them badly and they couldn't paper over the cracks anymore.
I recall fans on their message boards asking why they had one of the smallest budgets in the division when they had one of the biggest gates.... the reason is Pallet Park cost more than they bargained for, coupled with a previous board who were helping themselves with their faces deep into the trough.
They really are the Man United of the non league..... riddled with debt lol

100% agree bud. At the game earlier in the season at Radcliffe they shipped 5 goals and were lucky as that scoreline flattered them. They have some players who were Sunday league at best as they cannot afford to pay players from 3 leagues up the pyramid like they did when they started out!

I've just returned from Broadhurst Park after attending a More Life weight management session.
It's a nice little stadium for a non league side, the hospitality/ corporate side of things are top class and the actual playing surface is immaculate.
But the banners and flags that are permanently attached/tied to barriers and roof supports are something else.
"Making friends, not millionaires" is a favourite,as there are 2 or 3 of them.
Red Rollin Rebels is another one.
And FCUM Punk Football is another classic.
They really are a deluded bunch of fuckwits, they seem to somehow think they are the originators/ saviours of non league football.
FCUM and also fuck every single one of the delusional wankers.

They will never get it, will they ? Even in the so-called glory days of United a millionaire YES a proper one back then
owned them and funded his own money into the club to buy players. Even money from Sky from 1992 built the Fergie years.

Football at the top levels is funded by outside investment into your club,

Good post Ancoats.
And yes I 100% agree with you say about the funding of top level football clubs.
