FC United Thread

Finished 4 nil the only team below them in the league have had their next two games postponed as they’re a basket case of ownership. The FC women’s team also sit bottom of the league, a league they were relegated into this year.

In addition to those two struggling sides they also started a women’s development side this year by appointing a coach who couldn’t find any players. That team got fined for not fulfilling their first 2 fixtures before another local team stepped up and offered them a manager & 15 players to play under the “fc umbrella”

On the plus side though despite regularly championing the cause of being “against modern football” whilst complaining that this years 3 new shirts aren’t selling well enough in the financial reports they have announced the new official grip sock & shin pad partner. Despite only being available in Australia all Australian fc fans qualify for a discount

But apart from that everything else is rosy?

If I was the council executive co-opted to the board I’d be asking why they can’t keep the staff. The board members blame it on their own members being too critical but for years now anyone in a senior position hasn’t lasted longer than around 18 months. The last few years they’ve seen a CEO go, an Academy Principal fail, a business manager get head hunted & go to work at Old Trafford.

Between the summer & the beginning of October this year they had sacked the men’s first team manager. The women’s first team manager resigned to allow her to focus on her other role at the club as community manager (yet within two weeks resigned from that as well!) lastly the commercial manager (a long time FC fan) resigned as he felt the job stopped him enjoying going to the game. They just can’t keep any of the staff that their stupidly ambitious business plan relies on.

The latest board reports show that they cant really afford to recruit a community manager, despite being such a community club & focusing so hard on the community aspect to justify the cheap council loans so are looking at the possibility of having a Manchester active member of staff do the role on FCs behalf for free. Manchester Active is of course an arm of the council, there’s a chance more of your hard earned council tax will go towards propping them up

The club wants to be seen as a professionally run outfit throughout the club whilst hoping that volunteers will be able to deliver the outcomes.
The council funded projects they undertake include costs for salaried staff so they should be able to afford a community manager - the whole sham is just a part of the punk football swindle.
Is that true that a business manager upped sticks and went to the swamp? lol

As for the commercial manager resigning because the job prevented him from enjoying the game..... I think his enjoyment of the game has been ruined by the club getting smashed every weekend.
