FC United thread

I enjoyed the latest publicity. The bucketeers announce it’s cheaper to watch them than go to Old Trafford as it’s just £15 every game to watch them play non league in a half empty ground,

It’s £15 to watch all league, cup games and friendlies. They’re expecting their fans to drop £45 watching 3 massive home friendlies in a week. That’s £45 on tickets on top of the three new shirts that came out just for one year at £50 each and the required “optional” donation on top of your season ticket

Yet they keep going on about how affordable they are and how they’re sticking it to the man ‍

& put any money left into a bucket.

Well the latest farce to hit pallet park is another monumental fuck up. Particularly troubling as it’s affecting young people in the area who have been using their academy. As regular readers will know by now the academy was the great white hope. When “the vision” was unveiled they announced they were taking the academy back in house, making the football manager the full time principal & recruiting 120 kids in the first year. The local kids of moston were going to be the cash cows that were going to save them. One newly elected board member (luc zentar previously discussed on here) thought it was a good time to demonstrate his back of fag packet maths showing how much profit the club would make in future if they attracted 500 kids. They budgeted for 20 girls in the first year & recruited 1. By now they expected 140 kids but still have less than 50. Again like so many things with FC it has been badly mismanaged & nothing is ever the club or the boards fault. The manager had to resign his full time education role after just a few months (to be later employed in a sponsorship/sales role) and the club went back to SCL to run the academy for them. SCL have now realised the FC academy was a pipe dream based on fanciful numbers & was never going to come to fruition from a purely business point of view so handed in their 3 month notice, as they were entitled to do.

This is an absolute disgrace that is going to affect kids and their futures. A non league football club that can’t organise a piss up in a brewery should not have been allowed to set off on a stupid scheme to sell kids a full time education at the government’s expense.
Shambolic as ever. I love it how the Rag Socks demand answers from SCL and are simply ignored.
They talk of a "local education provider" they are in talks with - so that will be City College again. Utter fools to get involved with this shower.

1Early days they were in Bury but got crowds of around 30 x their competitors - there was no MCC cash for about 10 years an the new stadium.

Now they are no longer highest in their league and have lost the big advantage, but still one of the top supported teams so should do better.
Higher crowds with the highest debt. They mirror their Trafford based brethren in so many ways both on and off the field.

So they want to find another local education provider to set up and be ready to go having recruited enough kids to start at pallet park by September after the previous partner finally had enough of all the lies that FC had been telling them about their popularity and the number of kids that were going to turn up.

The reason they’re so pissed off about a company exercising the three month notice period that they agreed to is not because they’re concerned about the welfare of local students or the damage this has done to their already piss poor reputation in Moston but because they need to raise £125,000 profit next year just to stand still. Heres the budget for next year, they expected the academy to make nearly £64k of that profit with very little work from themselves.

Just exactly what are the two council officials on the board doing at their meetings?
If Blue Moon has one member with access to their accounts and budget for the next year which clearly shows they are living on fantasy island as well as the land of make believe then what are the two council officials doing with this information?
It’s shocking that they appear to be able to just pluck numbers out of the air without anyone seriously questioning the sanity of those responsible for producing them.

Here’s a question for the council if anyone can be arsed to ask it.

How many free tickets did they receive for the Oasis gig at Heaton Park?

How did they decide which charities or organisations to support?

Why was it the bucketeers that got given two to try & encourage people to buy tickets early (& prop up the problematic cash flow) for a friendly match between Rag has beens vs bucketeers old boys? Was there nobody else worthy of a few crumbs from the council table? No other worthy causes considered? haven’t FC already taken enough?

The council staff on the board see how many advantages and leg ups they can give one outfit in a city full of deserving causes. Remember the council gave the bucketeers a free pair of oasis tickets back in February to encourage people to buy tickets for the loosely termed legends match early now they’ve given them another pair to get rid of “their way” it makes you wonder just how many oasis tickets the council have given away and what the criteria was about which worthy causes they chose to support?

Was the criteria for support that you had to be a organisations massively in debt to them that had to have council staff co-opted (not elected!) onto their board?

Wonder how Liam and Noel feel about supporting the rag spawn in this way

Nevermind that, I wonder what Liam would feel if he saw that picture of him with a Moston Rag Socks badge on his jacket. I’m not on twatter otherwise I’d send it to him.

Im also confused by the proceeds of the raffle going to their community work.
As far as I am aware - and someone correct me if I’m wrong- all of their community work (except stuff like collecting coats at winter) is done via funding (mostly by Manchester City council for projects they used to deliver themselves). They don’t fund projects themselves from their own profits because they never make a profit.

I’d rather the council have said “here’s 2 tickets, raffle them and give us the proceeds to knock off how much you owe us.”.

The council are as guilty of enabling these fuckers as parents of junkies are who keep giving money to their offspring on the promise that the money will “only be spent on food” when deep down the junkie knows only to well it is going to feed their addiction.

It would be interesting to see the reaction of the Splitter's Board & fans if Noel & Noel turned up at Pallet Park to promote this raffle ?
Cannot remember anyone other than FCUM/Trafford Tramps fans being welcomed to their Council-backed fantasy club ?

Anyway. 3 days until payday……. Are Bucketeers still searching down the back of their settee? Are they emptying those jars or piggy banks that they drop all their loose change in at the end of each day?

Will that first installment be paid or will some other shite excuse for failing to do so be dreamt up?
I think you, me and the rest of us know the answer.

In my view, the Council representatives on the Board have a fiduciary responsibility to the Council's taxpayers. Their role is not unlike that of directors appointed by a bank to a company Board when that company is on the edge of receivership.

Back in the day, I'd have suggested that a council taxpayer of Manchester CC should refer this matter to the Audit Commission. However, the Tories abolished the AC, and I haven't a scooby what private sector organisation is making a huge butty from public money by fulfilling the AC's old role. Maybe a Manchester resident should ask the Council.

I bet that fat ****, oops sorry, well respected member of parliament Graham Stringer might be able to help?

Maybe not.
