FC United thread

On the BBC sportsday page:
National League North club FC United of Manchester are hoping to put a troubled year behind them following the election of a new board. But there are still issues to resolve.

The club have admitted, commercially, their first year at their £6.3m home at St George’s Park was not a success. And now they have revealed season ticket sales are around 50% of the same point last summer.

As of Tuesday, the club had sold 664 adult season tickets, compared to 1,223 at the same stage 12 months ago. They had sold 120 junior season tickets compared to 232 at the same stage last year.
The reason for the low renewals is many fans waited to see who got elected onto the board before committing more money to the club. If a few of the old board had been re-elected it appears many would not have bought season tickets but just paid on the day or walked away.
On top of that, Andy Walsh was still being paid a salary of £3000 a month while off sick until his 3 month notice was ran down which was the last day of June. Fans didn't want to feel their season ticket money was going into the pocket of a fellow Co owner who had really shafted them all.
So I suspect the figures will rise but there has been a lot of damage done and a lot of repairs needed between supporters and the board and financially they are in a perilous state.

Let's hope they go bust

A lot of them will probably be going back to the swamp now that the peg is there. Fucking glory hunting twats will think there's more chance of winning stuff since he turned up.

Good points Mad Eyed Screamer

I just wonder whether there are other factors in addition, although not as significant as the loss of confidence in the Board.

Salford City have become the non league media darlings taking over the mantle from FCUM. Also a section of FCs fans (probably exaggerated) had banning order from Old Trafford. They might not return to the swamp but that option could be more appealing for some given FCUM's apparent reversal of values

Entirely correct TOTO.
Plus, retro 70's nights down the local are ok once in a while. Every week and they start to become a bore, and you seek entertainment elsewhere.

Very true.

Also, I heard that the FCUM firm and the Salford rags had a good tear up a coup of seasons ago. Eddie Beef was a sight running around in his Bermuda shorts lol.

Haha. He left the swamp derby at half time last season. Eddie was bored at the football and lack of action off the pitch.
I'm not surprised. As an intelligent sensitive man he would require mental stimulation of a higher calibre than the fare on offer. He was probably late for a lecture.
Don't let those misspelt tatts fool you.

He goes to Blackpool for a couple of days virtually every week. What a life

Is he shagging Joe Longthorne?...or a Nolan perhaps?
I think spiritually we all visit Blackpool now and again, in our darkest hours.
