Feckless Underclass Scum BBC1

I've not watched the programme but what I do dislike is the way the BBC and other media outlets will point a camera at the worst aspects of British underclass and not balance out others in the community who work their bollox off to get a job.

They (the media) are very much a middle to upper class organisation who have no empathy or understanding of the areas that these people live. They will hold up the worst examples and paint the unemployed on the whole as lazy, feckless individuals who live their own life of Reilly, when in reality this is not the case.

Nearly 3 pages in and we find something is actually worth reading. I don't get it the BBC are supposed to serve the nation be unbiased in their opinions. Clearly there is an agenda here its tv at its cheapest and nastiest and yet more fodder for the Fail and Express to poke fun at over the weekend. They failed with Saville and there sinking to knew levels with this I wish they would just pull the plug and privatise the whole thing. If it wasn't for Five live I would be happy to never see the BBC again.

I don't know, but of the two times I have been a workshy scrounger, I have found living on the dole desperate beyond belief, and I'm not kidding when I say I spent hours walking the streets hoping to find a 10p coin that would allow me to buy a tin of baked beans so I could have something to eat!

Having been there, I honestly couldn't give a shit about families receiving money, and I mean it.
Let's look at the actual benefits budget.

State Pensions - £74bn
Personal Tax Credit - £29.91bn
Housing Benefit - £17bn
Disability Living Allowance - £12.5bn
Child Benefit - £12.2bn
Pension Credits and Minimum Income Guarantee - £8bn
Income Support - £7bn
Rent Rebates - £5.5bn
Attendance Allowance - £5.3bn
Incapacity Benefit - £4.9bn
Jobseeker's Allowance - £4.9bn
Employment Support Allowance - £3.6bn
Admin - £3.5bn
Sick/Maternity Pay - £2.6bn
Social Fund Expenditure - £2.4bn
Carer's Allowance - £1.7bn
Financial Assistance Scheme - £1.2bn
Child Trust Fund - £106m

It seems to me that since a large number of those benefits are going to people that are actually working, a far more effective way of cutting the benefit bill would be to simply force employers to pay their workers a living wage.

No I can't agree with this.........companies would have to sack people. Would rather have 100 people on tax credits than 50 on a better wage and fifty on the dole!

Tax credits are fucking disgraceful. People in full time employment should not be needing the government to top up their wages. These employers need to pay a proper living wage.

If large multinational organisations paid their share of tax we could lower the overall tax burden, for both business and individuals. This would encourage spending which, in turn would lead to growth.

If, at the same time, we increased the minimum wage and reduced benefit payments we would encourage more to return to work. Again, this encourages growth.

There are some very lazy people who need to be "forced" to work. There are equally some people who are desperate to work and struggling, in a society that often picks the easy target for short term political gain and not for long term, sustainable benefit.

Oh look another let's demonize and attack people on welfare again, this is both new and interesting and yet more fucking propaganda from dear old Beeb, they're getting one less TV license fee this year, the cnuts!

Of course the morons who can't see passed the end of one's nose will lap it up!

I might open a pitchfork business, seems like a enterprise that will grow steadily!

An interesting observation I just made when out and about was that three of the people I went to uni with live local to me and studied media like that guy with the dodgy teeth.

One of them just served me in Aldi, another one served me in Argos, and the third one works on reception in my local gym. All three of them got first class degrees and have been unable to find work - yet they don't feel a sense of entitlement.

That said the program last night wasn't really representative of the unemployed as a whole - I'd imagine individuals like the ones flagged up last night are rather few and far between. I still think something needs to be done to turn the welfare system into real a safety net and not a lifestyle choice though.

Probably due to the fact that a 'media studies degree' isn't worth the paper its written on!

It's a good point about a show showing the swindlers who are rich due to being swindling cunts.

Problem is they are all semi gangster types and live in palaces in Essex.
These chaps are not to open to reporters sniffing through their books i doubt.

I do know a little rat twat who has never done a days work in his life, his wife is a privilaged woman who is far to ugly to be allowed such an attitude.
He got a payoff from vodaphone for something, 800k !
The **** will never have to lift a finger and was in work all of 7 months.

These were golden payoffs for consultants they decided in a capricious manner they don't need anymore and this twat got lucky.
His kids are snooty little bastards also who i wouldn't mind seeing get a slap of some hard kid :D

The bloke is a complete twat and the perfect illustration of how IT and non tangible work in the uk and its out of whack payments have not helped the economy or society as a whole.
