Fee agreed for Dunne

Villa fan here.

Very pleased with Dunne. Last irish CB with a drinking problem to sign for us from Manchester went on to be a legend, any chance?

From what I have seen I think he will do well, do you guys agree?

Best of luck for the season.

Cheers

Dunne will put everything on the line for you, all you've got to do is accept that, on occasion, he'll fuck up monumentally. Once you've accepted that he'll never let you down!! He's a quality player on his day, and you certainly don't want to get on the wrong side of one of his tackles!

Everton fans should take a leaf out of your book, take care of him mate, brace yourself for the cards, own goals and plain howlers. ;)

I maybe speaking out of turn but.... were the rickets in previous seasons down to the lack of protection from your full backs, and midfield.

This season he has looked good as you have more emphasis on attacking but you have Barry to anchor the midfield. We have a similar set up with PEtrov and Reo-Coker now (without getting into discussions on who has better players lol!).

Am I right?
Its fair to say that our set up when Dunne wasn't playing as well as he can could be down to players around him. But on the other hand he can be guilty of a lapse of concentratin or a bit of a gaffe. He's got stick from Blues in the past, unfairly at times, but if you're getting last-ditch-Distin then you should be alright.

Funnily enough he is the one I don't want. Only because I think Curtis Davies is better

You are about to sign an absolutely brilliant player.

Also, if you sign Distin to play along side him (like reported), then you will have a very very good defensive partnership

Good Luck Dunney, you deserve to be playing every week for a great side. Villa is a great choice

To an extent yes, but he did drop some absolute howlers last season too that were entirely his own making. Main reason he is going is his inability to play out of defence - you may be ok with Heskey but he does tend to get frustrated and hit it long when there is absoluely no pressure on. And this season he has almost give away 2 pens already with his 'stand and deliver' tackling.

With a CM partnership of Reo-Coker and Petrov, I would have though it's not in your best interests to not start anything here! ;)

Good luck Dunne, treat him right Villa, know you will. He's a true warrior.

I'll be honest, I haven't seen much of Davies to make a well-judged comparison. Dunne and Distin were a very solid pairing when on form and that was when we were a team that were set out to defend. If you do get both Dunne and Distin it would look like you are building our old back 4. In that case, would you like to take Michael Ball? He needs a club and looks really lonely training on his own. He hasn't even got a wall to play a one-two with.
