Fee agreed for Dunne

All the best Dunney, you've been superb for Manchester City, you're a legend and will go down as one of my favourite players over the past 10 years. Go easy with our forwards will you and feel free to pop one into your own net when we play you....LOL ...don't really mean that Dunney.

Villa fan here.

Very pleased with Dunne. Last irish CB with a drinking problem to sign for us from Manchester went on to be a legend, any chance?

From what I have seen I think he will do well, do you guys agree?

Best of luck for the season.

Cheers

Villa will be stronger for having Dunne in the squad, I'm gutted he's gone, but O'Neill has done well buying Dunne for 6million.
He has been great for us and a stable influence on our squad, through difficult times, so I suppose it's good luck to Dunne and Villa. Much sooner he stayed with us.

As much as i have criticised him last year or so and even though he would be my 4th choice centre back behind Toure, Lescott and Onouha, when i saw the article on the official site i felt sad and gutted. It's a weird feeling.

He's been a fantastic servant and it's a shame the amount of shit he has played with over the last 9 years that when it finally comes together he won't be here.

I hope he gets a loud rendition of "he's here, he's there, he's every fucking where" in a few weeks at Villa.

Funnily enough he is the one I don't want. Only because I think Curtis Davies is better
I'll be honest, I haven't seen much of Davies to make a well-judged comparison. Dunne and Distin were a very solid pairing when on form and that was when we were a team that were set out to defend. If you do get both Dunne and Distin it would look like you are building our old back 4. In that case, would you like to take Michael Ball? He needs a club and looks really lonely training on his own. He hasn't even got a wall to play a one-two with.

Sure but only in a straight swap for Shorey!!!!

Best of luck Dunney monster!! could have thrown all his career down the drain with his alcohol problems, but like the true man he is, he thought back and as had 9 great years, a testimonial is a must if not for him the fans!!!

So lescott does walk straight in the team!! But i hope Ned pushes that centre pairing all the way

Hear hear would have preferred to keep him in the squad but, world cup year plus would have been difficult having our captain on the bench or the inevitable removal of his captaincy so good luck to you fella!

I'm gutted he's gone (assuming terms are agreed) but I understand why. Good luck Richard, except aginst us when an og would be appreciated!

Surely the fact that we took one of Villa's top players in Barry, and have now sold them one of our own that was deemed surplus to requirements following our summer strengthening means that we are stronger than Villa and recognised as such. I hope results bear this out.
