I suspect its nothing more sinister than the glazers won't agree to buy the players he wants, and needs, to keep them at the top, so he's sacked it.

He's not an idiot, he knows they got lucky this year, both with us not kicking on, and that team, they won the league because of his motivation, RVP's early season goals, and our lack of pushing on, certainly not their collective talents as a squad. It may be a young squad and some of the players will continue to improve, but there are some players who won't, and they are the ones that need a lot of money to replace, and even then some luck at a club like united. There are plenty of quite average players too, who won't be motivated as well by anyone else.

That's how I read it too. Win win situation for ferguson really.

I can't understand all this celebration malarky, I for one am gutted he has only retired. I wanted him to see as their manager a decline of their club over the next dozen years or so and the rise of the blue empire to totally eclipse what he had done in a slow and painful way. In much the same painful way as I have had to endure his antics over the last 26 years. The only saving grace is as a director of the swamp he will still be able to squirm in his seat as he watches his sucessor (David fucking Moyes) hopefully fuck things up on a mighty scale. I just hope there is a clause in his new contract which forbids him from being manager again because I can see him coming out of retirement in the not too distant future. But that aside GET THE FUCK IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Moyes a perfect combination, rags and him they deserve one another. Hahaahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahah.

Haven't read all the thread, so don't know if its already been mentioned, but I believe Baconface has been involved very little in the coaching side this season its been left to the Dutch guy Meulensteen. This guy is highly thought of at the swamp, and will be interesting to see where he fits into the new structure.

He will fit into a seat on KLM flight KM123 from Manc to Amsterdam shortly, once Moyes sees he preaches passing football not hooooof

But they have just won the title. If he was pushed, I doubt it was for purely footballing reasons. I cant see it, personally.
