Who refs out matches is what is important.

I would have thought its extremely important. Most if not all refs want to officiate in matches involving United.

If the best way to ensure that happens is to make decisions that the United manager is happy about then we'll see more and more 50/50 decisions, and 40/60 decisions go in their favour.

Its not a deliberate thing but a pretty natural human reaction. So if Oliver is kept away from United games for any length of time it damages the integrity of the competition.

And we should all care about that.
Ah so we're going down the 'Fergie has say in a refs career' path. I'm out on that one as we'll be here all day.

You're getting a bit obsessed about this agenda thing.

If Oliver is kept away from United games for an extended period of time after being criticised by the United manager I'd be inclined to believe its no coincidence.

It wouldn't be the first time and it doesn't mean that Ferguson is on the phone to Mike Riley getting refs banned from United games.

But the outcome is the same as if he did, refs will be reluctant to make decisions against Man United because it damages their career.

Oliver gets another game involving United in a reasonable time frame and no one has a problem.

What was Clattenberg's first game officiating scum after the sick swan, my memory is slipping?

What happened in his first derby involvement following the sick swan?

A Liverpool supporter did a blog article which proved he did. Two refs didn't get a rag game for exactly 12 months after they were criticised by the drink-sodden twat. Another one retired.

it would actually stop olivers career dead in its tracks
Would it?? It may have escaped your attention but whilst United are and always will be a big pull worldwide, we are on the lips of many-a-country at the minute, and have just as much exposure as United do because of it. There's no reason why reffing us doesn't hold just as much meaning for a ref than it does reffing a United game.

I know, it's been commented on before, to which I asked, (you actually), why Clattenberg had also waited a year or two to officiate in an Arsenal match after reffing them prior. There was no reason behind it, it was just the way it was. I think an Everton game was thrown in there too. There are other refs too who wait a long period of time before reffing any particular team after reffing them prior - it's just the way it is.

The principle is the same and it would be just as damaging to the integrity of the game if it was happening to us.

Although I suspect most if not all refs would choose united as the games they most like to be involved in.
