Dinho is playing centre back out of neccesity , Rodri will not be the preferred defensive midfield player when Laporte returns.
I don't know what gives you this impression. Rodri is clearly the preferred option at DM.Dinho is playing centre back out of neccesity , Rodri will not be the preferred defensive midfield player when Laporte returns.
It's so obvious that it bugs me how many don't see it :)Yeah I very much believe that once Laporte gets back the preferred pairing will be Fernandinho & Laporte. Stones and Otamendi haven't shown they should be picked over Dinho, plus it makes more sense to keep him at CB for the whole season.
Sane returns, Bernardo is then even less needed as a forward and becomes primarily a midfielder, pushing Gundogan to the backup 6, and Dinho to CB.
5 Forwards (Aguero, Jesus, Sane, Sterling, Mahrez)
4 '8s' (De Bruyne, Bernardo, Silva, Foden)
2 '6s' (Rodri, Gundogan)
4 CBs (Laporte, Dinho, Stones, Otamendi, plus Garcia & THB)
I think Rodri will still be first choice DM.
Dinho will continue to be used as a CB. Given the way he is actually improving as a CB, he may be Laporte's main partner for the rest of the season.
However, whatever happens, Dinho is not the future in any position, which doesn't mean he won't be part of the squad for another season or three.
