Great to see him talk of renewing and wanting to renew in the MUEN today. Clearly wants to stay and doesnt show any signs of fitness issues(touches wood!) -great news al around and a true legend - deserves the same recognistion as Sergio, David Silva and Kompany

Dinho is playing centre back out of neccesity , Rodri will not be the preferred defensive midfield player when Laporte returns.
I think Rodri will still be first choice DM.
Dinho will continue to be used as a CB. Given the way he is actually improving as a CB, he may be Laporte's main partner for the rest of the season.
However, whatever happens, Dinho is not the future in any position, which doesn't mean he won't be part of the squad for another season or three.

I'd bet you a thousand bucks he'd still be #1 when Laporte returns. But it won't matter, as Dihno will be the #2 CB anyways. So he'd still start many games. But I'd be shocked if he starts more than 2 games as a pure DM barring injury to Rodri.

Fernandinho's current contract has an automatic extension clause based on appearances. The Brazilian has to be in 60% of Manchester City's matches this season - so far appearing in 69.7%.
Regardless of the clause, both Manchester City AND Fernandinho want to extend the contract. The player's agent is due to be in Manchester by early February to get the deal done. [@fredcaldeira]

Playing at CB may prolong his career and he/we can get the extra year in.
