Must admit I'm getting a little worried were spending large amounts of money on older players. Our average age is going up not down with these new signings. Looking forward to seeing us sign one or two more younger players with great ability.
We need players who can come in and make an immediate impact. The signings might be older, but they are at their best ages and certainly have lots of hunger.

I agree, we've got Rodwell and Razak who are there to learn an develop and improve in the position. If we'd bought a 24 year old it would have been bad news for them.

We've bought a ready made champions league player at 28 who will be nearing the end of his career just as Rodwell and Razak are reaching their peak.

From what I've seen of him I think he's going to be a sensational player for us.

Man Utd and Chelsea fans will be and are worried.

so for some people on here it would be better if he was 17 and cost us 43p.

Drogba was 26 in 2004 when he joined Chelsea, he left last year aged 34..

Even at 34 they missed him.. if players stay fit then they go on longer..

Fernandinho has got 5 years left in him easily..

We dont sell our players because we are not a selling club so why shall we care about resale value? Only time we do sell,is whenever a player is not good enough

I fear you're going to be disappointed re:Razak, he's available for transfer and frankly not making the grade, Rodwell needs a great deal of luck (like all potentially top players) to stay free of injury and break up the new look midfield, however if, and it's a big if. he can stay fit he could be another lampard, the amount of goal scoring positions he gets in are frightening, a bit more composure we could have an absolute bargain for 12m!!!!!

As mentioned, we need players for now ahead of players who need another 3-4 seasons to reach their full potential. Once we've got the more experienced players in & we've corrected the mistakes of last season, we're set for the next 2-3 seasons which will give the younger players time to learn & develop.

As last season proved, our first 15 are a match for anyone in the league, but after that the quality of our squad falls off a cliff edge. Also whats the obsession with a players re-sale value? The last time I checked we'd had 'An escalation in our financial firepower'! :0)
