If Fernandinho's buyout clause was £42m, I'd say we've done well to get it down by £8m.

I fucking wouldn't. Let's not kid ourselves here - that's a joke of a fee and this guy is a gamble. He'll be completely worthless within 5 years so to come anywhere near justifying this fee he's going to have to hit the ground running and make a colossal impact

The team at the Bleacher Report seem to think this could be the deal of EPL this summer if Ronaldo doesn't move.

Like others have said, doesn't make a difference what we paid for him. We wouldn't have paid it if he wasn't thought that highly of. I agree with the articles assessment as well that he will likely be the player who has the biggest influence on the team this year.

I've seen a fair few places saying that the £30-ish mill figure is what you get when you add his salary on top of the transfer fee. Following this line of thought, a more accurate figure would be £22m.
