Yes, that might be because I am one of the users who maintain the City pages on Wikipedia ;)

I still think that £22m is the more likely figure.

I am hoping like Navas it's 20m plus a load of clauses to make it 30m.

Even without the blue-tinted specs, that sounds high. Most places say either £3.5m or £5m in clauses from a base of £20m, which wouldn't come close to £30m. Many places say £17m + £3.5m, which is the figures I believe are true for Navas. Heck, I even saw one place say £15m + clauses earlier. But Navas' deal won't even get remotely close to £30m, even if he triggers every clause on offer.

no, sorry, I meant like Navas in terms of low fee plus bonuses, not the actual numbers, I was just taking the £30m of Fernandinho and trying to knock a few million of it with clauses to make it sound much better.

Just watched the video on the OS ... have one query: is sharon still club photographer? no sign of her here, some other lass on snapping duty.

No mate, madrid came in with an offer and their dark room is air conditioned. Heard we will go for someone younger with better vision.

No brainier for the girl - RM have got Lightroom so she can indulge in as much post-prod touching-up as she likes!

I vote for TSQ to get the City gig.

what the fuck with the moaners !!! is that you mother's money! By the way hope that Bluemoon can find a solution like that only certified or i don't know city fans can post because i suspect some d** heads supporting other teams coming to troll.
I suspect you were the same moaning last summer no one of us know how much he cost even his former club that didn't want to sell him will make it look high (maybe 40m with a lot of bonuses on performance)
Maybe his wages aren't that hight like Navas that's why the club judge wise to pay high transfer fees(if its true)
Sometimes nothing can please some!!

Anyway on a good note, looking forward to see the team playing

Ah I see. A few news outlets have mentioned clauses being part of Fernandinho's fee, but not so widespread or from the right places that I am sure I believe in it or not. I wouldn't be surprised if the supposed £34m included all clauses being triggered if there are some, though.

Bet it's got to be really frustrating being a City board member. You've been involved in OKing all the transfers, you're responsible for meeting FFPR, and then the press go and make radical claims about all sorts to do with finances, but confidentiality clauses prevent you from debunking the rumours...

Shakhtar issued a statement yesterday confirming that the deal will be worth a staggering €40 million (about £34 million) to them, although it will cost City about £30 million as a result of the Brazil midfielder’s willingness to forgo a bonus due under the terms of his contract.

The Times

Wow....that is nice. That's a lot of money to give away. Most footballers wouldn't do. They would rather make as much money as possible in their short footballing careers. I'm sure he is going to be paid well in the 5+ years he will be at City. Still, it's a lot to give away. Hopefully it will be all worth it for both him and City.

Even the evening news are now reporting £30m +£4m from the player and Navas £15m rising to £18m with add ons
you mean the MUEN ? oh right.

I am sure someone will know the answer but how can he possibly qualify for a work permit he is neither a EU citizen and hasnt played in 75% of Brazil games in the last 2 years.

£45m for the 2 combined is a fair price IMO.

Not really
Fernadinho is good but not 34m good. If he was young than yeah, but i think its too much for a player that has been playing in Ukraine and not in the Brazillian squad.

He cost more than Yaya Toure and David Silva, and he isnt as good as those players.

I think city overpaid for him.

Navas's fee is fair and accurate.

If Ferran and Txiki think he's worth £30m, then that's fine by me. And we were never going to get him on the cheap. Shaktar aren't exactly penniless, are they?

22.5m for each player is decent IMO. What isn't decent is 50m + Eto'o for Ibrahimovic.

Overpaying slightly doesn't matter if you can afford it. It's not like we handed the money to a rival either. This just shows how badly we wanted him and thought there weren't better options.

He deserves a lot of credit for giving up a 4m loyalty bonus to move. If we win a lot of trophies with him for the next 5-6 years...he will be worth it. This is a guy who wants to play for City.

A combined £45m for two players who could be vital to regaining the title and advancing in europe, earning us £90m+ in the process, i can live with that.

Truth is I don't give a fuck about the money. It's the sheikh's money and he'll spend it how he pleases.

We have enough bean counters to make sure that we're not overspending. Shakhtar aren't some piss poor small club, they have a tycoon owner who probably like selling his best players as much as we do.

I could not be more excited. To finally, FINALLY have a mobile, good passing midfield partner for Yaya is something I've fantasized about since Yaya got here. Tremendous buy and well done to everyone involved. Fernandinho's attitude is outstanding and he is very motivated. Good times!

Never any guarantees over signings, but I this will be our best signing yet. Not only is he a very gifted player, but he has attributes which we lack. That's key

As for the fee Shakhtar did not want to sell him, but we wanted him badly. And rightly so

Talksport just had someone on to discuss Fernandinho. I don't know who he was, but he was very positive and basically salivating at the prospect of Yaya and Fernandinho playing together next season. He said that the player that Fernandinho was most like was Yaya, and can you imagine the prospect of 2 Yaya's in 1 midfield! Happy days!
