Fernandinho Injury

Delph is the only player in our squad who has similar qualities to play the same role albeit to a much lower standard than dinho, anybody else playing there brings something slightly different and we need to alter our game a little to compensate. If Delph isn't available, I think gundogan plays there tonight with a bit more defensive duties to kdb and Bernardo or whoever else plays infront of him and weekend danilo gets the nod there. We fell apart last time dinho was out, let's hope Pep has learnt his lesson and we don't just play the same with somebody without dinhos skillset being asked to do his role.

Yes. If the youth are good we need to give them opportunities when our first team players get injured. We're at home to a mid table club, if ewe aren't going to take the risk now, given we have so many injuries, when are we?!

Gomes nowhere near good enough/ready at this stage in his development.

If he's out for a month he'll miss:

West Ham (H)
Bournemouth (A)
Watford (H)
Schalke (H) - would have been suspended anyway
Swansea (A) - cup game, might not have played anyway

If we lose at home to West Ham and Watford then it won't just be because we're missing Fernandinho, if you catch my drift...

I don't know what Delph gas done to piss Pep off. If he is fit to play he should deputise for Ferno. Gundog is not the answer for DM.
I'm sure it was the stupid sending off in the last minute of the Leicester game - I think Pep's philosophy is "OK we've had a bad game but don't let it impact on the next game" but Delph did.

I know that. What I don't know is why Delph has not even been on the bench when available. On the few games he's played he has not looked in the same form as last season. If he is fit to play it's all hands-on deck as far as im concerned, especially with a player of Delph's quality.

It may be time to try out a double pivot, since neither player can do both the jobs that Fernandinho can do, how about a double act of Delph and Gundogan? One to break up play and close down, the other to control play and find spaces. Just the thought of it scares the shit out of me, but maybe Pep can do something with it.
