This is a guy who's put one hell of a shift in. Even back when he was playing in 2 a man central midfield with Yaya, right up to him playing centre half last season and chipping in this season, bagging at old trafford.

If it's true I think it's probably the right decision. He's done well when required this season but we're already having to use him very infrequently and I just think when watching him the timing of a lot of what he does is by the skin of his teeth, and I think next season looks like it would be one too many. Better to go out on a high

Yes it would be nice as our Captain for him to pick up a few trophies.
Wonderful professional who never complains about anything.Delighted he`s ours.

Surely has to get a new contract , his experience can only make others better players

Not sure how to vote. He's clearly at or near the age related collapse in form that we saw with Spanish Dave, so with the blue goggles and sentimental hat firmly off he should probably go. Yes he still does a job and can pick a pass, but the decline in athleticism will mean those yellows become reds as he lunges in more. Also not sure about staying in an assistant coaching role - do we have any evidence he'd actually be good at this? He might be brilliant, but great players don't necessarily make great coaches. Sad day when he does go though.

I've said this before

If I were in charge I'd offer Fern a one year deal where he can play 20/25 games and introduce Tommy Doyle iin lesser games or matches that are won and see if he can mature into his replacement
We'll know if TD can do it by the end of Jan next year so if it's not working then identify new transfer targets

I have a feeling Fernandinho will be offered another year, and that Aguero won’t, but obviously the club has to handle it sensitively given their status.

Hence the delay until the end of the season before announcing anything.

That’s my guess anyway, but after watching Fernandinho today, it’s hard to imagine him walking away in a couple of months’ time.
