It's a no brainer for me. He can also start coaching people behind him to play his role.

Would love it if he started with the midfield kids in the Academy - talking the 12-18 year olds.

Build them right up and teach them everything they need to play the position.

Douglas Luiz was supposed to be his understudy. I think this summer is our final opportunity to exercise our £27m buy back clause. Luiz has played 5 times for Brazil & alongside Grealish was seen by Smith as the main reason Villa avoided relegation last season.

I can think of no greater teacher for Luiz, & I doubt we can get another player anywhere near Luiz's potential for that kind of money. We should exercise our Luiz buy back clause & give him to Fernandinho for 12/24 months as his apprentice.

We can't afford to lose Fernandinho's dark arts. They need to be inherited by the next generation coming through.

Some people talk about the tactical fouls, but it takes real skill to be in the right place at the right time so that you can intercept the runners and snuff out the counter attack.

Much depends on what he wants to do and where he wants to live. Retiring from playing in his 30s he's the world at his feet.

Fernandinho is fluent in Portuguese, English & Ukrainian. I'm sure I read somewhere he also speaks Spanish & Italian. His intellect can't be disputed, & we see his intelligence with tactical fouls every time he plays.

I can't think of a better club Ambassador, Scout, qualified coach & leader of men than Fernandinho. He's never given us a problem in his 7 years at the club & has loyally served us as a model professional. He has to be kept on in a major capacity, as I can think of no one better to convince the next Brazilian Superstar that City is the club for them.
Exactly why he'd make a perfect future City manager, he needs to stay on no matter what for me... I saw he said this today.

Fernandinho: "Even on NYE watching fireworks with my family I was thinking about my duty as City captain. The next day, at 7am on Jan 1, 2021, I sent a message to our team manager, 'Set up a meeting with the players. We need to talk...'"
"I arrived in the morning ahead of training, and I said, 'Tell Pep we’ll start training a little later today.' It was an emergency. In this team, when you come to train, you do it at 100%, or you stay home. Once we got everyone together, I spoke openly to them..."
"I spoke as captain. I told them what Pep told me, that some things are inexcusable. I told them what you do in training reflects back at you later on in the game. It was very frank, very honest. We needed to be shaken. It was important we talked."

To me Fernandinho isn't only the most perfect defensive midfielder we've ever had and seemingly ageless, he has future manager written all over him from his general intelligence, languages, charisma, knowledge of football and passion in leadership combined... its second none in my time supporting the club, he's extremely down to earth to go with that! No matter what he should be kept and if he has ambitions for management too, then he should become Pep's right hand man once he decides he's too old.

Agreed 100%. Many questioned the £30m we paid for him, but when you look at the value we've had for our money, Fern would have been a bargain at twice the price.

£38m for Aguero. £24m for Silva. £26m for Yaya & £6m for Kompany. That's £124m for 5 Superstars. These have gotta be the absolute bargain deals of the 21st Century.
