His legs were gone last season and even at CB where there is less running, this year he has turned back the clock.
Completely different positions though.. moving a 34/35 year old to the defence of a team that was regularly exposed on the counter is why he may have looked a little off. Once legs are gone they are gone. Pure master in the midfield

Definitely another year for me.
The man's a leader, I don't think he'll have a problem with less minutes and passing on his experience to younger players would be invaluable

Sorry bud, I disagree, legs don't just go, and then come back, he suffered from us putting him in a completely different role, and whilst he transitioned and adapted admirably, the skill set and reading of the game, and how he's learnt to play it pretty much his whole career was changed, now he's back to doing what he does best, after his years sabbatical.
I think his legs have gone a bit , can’t cover as much ground as he used too .
Still quality though due to his intelligence and positioning.
Great tackler and reader of the game , to play at this level at 36 is amazing .
I love the guy .

Remonstrating with Zinchenko about keeping cool and doing nothing to attract another card, certainly one of the more ironic moments of the evening. Was convinced he was going to be booked at one point, but the ball never went dead for an eternity and the referee seemed to forget it.

Give him a player/coach contract but wait until the summer to announce it.

Fern is the ultimate warrior. Immense last night. The way he constantly nullified PSG players was a thing of beauty.
Yes brilliant last night again, he used his vast experience to control both the middle for us but he also dictated the way PSG tried to play. One of the best players we have ever had, he certainly doesn't play like he is 36 - more like he is 26!

Unlike Sergio his performance levels haven't dropped at all. He might not be able to play every three days but once a week he's still the best DM in the business

I can't see any reason we wouldn't offer him another year - I do wonder how much of a wage reduction it would include though and whether he wants a change

If he wants to stay, we have to extend his deal. I can’t think of anyone who would have played that role better than him last night.

Your typical school of thought would suggest keeping him and playing him in the less important games, and to an extent that’s what we’ve done for most of the season. But for me his recent performances suggest we should just keep in him in reserve for the really big games, where his influence is greatest.

The way he played Di Maria into that red card was genius, and things like that can swing it for you in the biggest games.
