Fernandinho to leave at the end of the season

If he wants to keep playing then I think leaving us at the end of the season is 100% the correct decision. He's started 4 games in 2022 and with Pep not making subs he doesn't even come off the bench much either(twice in last 4 months). Get back to Brazil get a few more years out of your legs then come back here as a coach.

A fantastic player who will leave as one of our great legends. He has been a great servant to the club and has helped many of our younger players. His decision has been made for the good of his family and himself and we should fully respect that. We will miss him greatly but will never forget him.

Am I not reading his correct ?
Says he “doesn’t think” but where is the full quote ?
Then which player doesn’t want to play more ??
I read it as he will go back to Brazil with his family at the end of the season to decide with his family hat his next step is.
Unless there is another set of quotes anywhere he hasn’t even close said he is leaving.
This would also be the reason for Peps shock at being told ?

Sort of the opposite of Kompany really. We wanted him to keep playing but he wanted to coach. And we want Fernandinho to coach but he wants to keep playing.

As long as it's amicable then I'm ok with it all.

That is actually spot on,but I will say it again,it was his words twisted,he never said he was leaving in the summer as Sly wanted to sensationalise his comment, pack of absolute arseholes that they are.

Sad to see him go, shows how good Rodri has been that we haven't missed him
Even sadder is that so many neutral fans will have a false impression from Sky Rats about 'tactical fouling'. Not to mention the crazy man in that recent clip wearing big headphones who went on and on. It was pointed out he.has not started since before Christmas but do t let the truth ruin a mad rant.

I have to confez I didnt even know he had a family hat? :-)

No as great as Paulinho obviously but still a fabulous player.
At 28 I thought we had probably paid a very full price but he has been an absolute bargain, he got Pep's style as soon as he arrived and was Pellegrinis most important signing (For Pellegrini, Sterling and DeBruyne were wonderful as well but Pellegrinis last season was not one to remember)

Not only an absolutely superb footballer, an absolute model professional. Never involved in controversy, never spouting off in the media, just always there and ready to do whatever the manager asks of him... including playing centre half without so much as a grumble.

Total respect for the bloke.

If I wanted a better deal I wouldn't commit to staying. He may have had a derisory offer or the boot anyway.

He wants to play. He’s nearly 38. He knows regular game time here isn’t going to happen ever again. He can apply for British citizenship now.

He could apply in 2019 as it is one year after gaining indefinite leave to remain after 5 years. He has likely already applied.

He would never show it on camera he’s too much in control. The guy is a perfectionist & not to be warned about these questions will piss him off. Press team heard fern say it 20 mins before pep so zero excuses.
Yep. Press team dropped a bollock, no excuse for not briefing him. He handled the question brilliantly but shouldn’t have been put in that position.

I remember the day we paid £30m for him thinking what are we doing despite seeing him perform well for Shakhtar it seemed a bit high, how wrong was I and probably most in questioning the fee because the impact was immediately from the off he made the team so much better, his energy and off the ball work the sheer presence he had here was more instant than any coffee boost, he was like a cheat code made Yaya have the freedom to have arguably the greatest individual season any City player has had post takeover or in my lifetime.

From the moment he arrived we looked a lot better unit for it defensively he will forever be underrated by other clubs fans, Kante rightly gets the plaudits that Fernandinho should also receive from a worldwide perspective, players like Edgar Davids were iconic worldwide stars years ago football doesn't seem to appreciate the Fernandinho's of this world as much, maybe Davids was helped by his glasses for his global image but in my opinion Fernandinho easily surpasses his best qualities and adds more too.

He's been a very underappreciated player throughout his career in my view and for me he's the perfect all round role mode for any aspiring defensive midfielder, a truly world class one and easily Brazil's best since Dunga operated in a deeper role even if they're so different in some ways.
As a person and leader in our dressing room regardless of how well we might do without, honestly I think he'll only be behind Kompany in how missed he'll be by our players and in some ways you could say he's been our most important signing in the past decade, he's allowed Yaya Silva Kev and many more the absolute freedom to do their jobs worry free just in the knowledge he'll be there.

What a fucking servant to the club he is to us fans and a brilliant man in real life we are honoured and owe you a debt of gratitude to Fernandinho, from the moment you paid part of your own transfer fee until now your stay has been legendary, hopefully we'll get to see you return to the club in some aspect whether just learning a future management career, or a future coaching role I've got a sneaking suspicion he'll miss us and Manchester when gone, and so will his family it'll feel too much like home for his kids, if his kids take up football I think it's very safe to say he'll be back.
Great post

He'll be back here one day.

He has mentioned recently about him and his family trying to obtain English citizenship
