Brazilians are like Duracell bunnies, so his age won't be a factor whatsoever.

This guy is fecking brilliant and does all the right stuff.

A little concerned he predominantly drives through the right side of midfield, same as Yaya, and it is Barry's side which needs replacing.

This is where I see our new left winger being someone who can run all day, score goals and also not be scared to stick his foot in.

Any word on Bale?

Much as I would love it, mate, I think Madrid have the boy completely boxed off at present.

I have been told to expect a major surprise from left field, but would wager that would be more akin to a Neymar or Reus, than Bale.

Oh please let it be Reus! Why are you doing this to us tolmie, I can't wait now!!!

Why are we buying thsi great player. Marvin was telling me and others that Garcia would be a top player and one of our best players :/

Buzzing that we're pushing this through. Chelsea were bang in for him and I mean bollock deep. Apperently they are going to go for one of Khedira, Fellaini or Paulinho and that's 100% (so I'm told), we'll see in the summer.

This guy is a few levels aabove Barry and Garcia and I actually wonder if the performances of Barry dropped when he knew this lad was signing. His comment of 'theres been changes upstairs and we will have to see what happens' (to paraphrase) is starting to make me question things now. I wonder if his heads dropped seeing team-mates signing new deals and he's not been offered and he knows this lads been signed up. I reckon he will be offered a 3 year deal on 70k or something a week. I'd rather pay him it than Garcia I know that much.

As for Tolmies left winger comment, I would not put it past the club to finally get a Barca player. Pedro or most likely Sanchez?

Pedro all day long. Superb player.

If Madrid are in for Bale, I wonder if we would be a chance with Di Maria? Top shelf player.

Yaya can do more than just stand on his left foot; guess you missed his goal at the weekend ;-)

-- Wed May 01, 2013 9:02 am --

Mourinho wants to take Di Maria to Chelsea; allegedly.

Fernandinho could have saved our season if he came in January...Anyway if he did end up in City this summer, I will call it the best signing for the summer for sure

This is my only concern. If Rodwell comes good, Micah recovers and we keep Barry around I think we'll have a good foundation. Hopefully City can develop some English talent in our new system. As it seems we're having no luck finding any on the market.
If Will Hughes were not a central midfielder, I would have thought we'd make a move for him but we're pretty full in that area.
Maybe branch out into British talent? Bale, Williams at Palace, Davies at Swansea etc...

Reus, Novaretti, Cavani and Fernandinho.

Sounds like a pretty good window.

Corrected for accuracy ;)

I wouldn't say Barry's performances have dipped, still very consistent and professional, i would look at it differently that perhaps he is playing for an extended contract

Barry has been good but he's been shocking in a few selected games. Southampton was disgusting for instance.

To be brutally honest our English palyers are a level below top player level and whilst we field them we will always be lacking somewhat.

Lescott, Barry and Milner are all good players but none would get in Barca, Real, Bayern, Dortmund, Juventus etc.

All three are good players for us but all three need upgrading on. Of this there really is no denying.

what about garcia?

what does that mean for him because toure, fernandinho and barry are most likely going to be the ones that start?

Btw he is a great player. Barca were sniffing around for him but we got Song in the end.

Disagree.

I think all would get in a well organised side with one pattern of play, in fact Pep Guardiola actually singled out Barry as one of the City players he most admired (that's after dropping Yaya & selling him to us).

The problem comes when you ask players to do jobs they can't do. In Yaya's case, that's any kind of resposible defensive job for 90 mins, in Barry's case, it's chasing round after 2 or 3 younger, faster, fitter midfield players with little or no cover for 90 mins. (Yaya & Garcia amount to little or no cover).

The difference is, no matter how many times Yaya lets his man run off & score, it doesn't matter. If Barry (or Lescott or Milner) do it once, they are hung for it. That's the price of being an English player.

Mancini keeps changing formations, asking players to do different jobs & rather than going back to a problem & fixing it, he changes everything around, so the next time we play a similar team, the same problem arises because we never addressed it (Ajax' 1st goal was a mirror image of Cavani's 2nd for Napoli).

Barca, Dortmund, Bayern etc work on a system, get players to do their jobs & perfect it. Barry can clean up loose balls & nick the ball off players in the middle of a tight midfield better han Martinez but isn't given the same job or the same cover.

To nip that in the bud Garcia is pants

Hoping Fernandinho will be an improvement, can't understand why if this was agreed in jan it didn't go through then?

This is a problem endemic to the English game unfortunately. We need a certain amount of homegrown players but we have so few English players anywhere near their foreign counterparts. Ours aren't good enough and realistically few else's are either. You only have to look at the national team for a good hit of depression. Wilshere is the closest thing we have to a world class midfielder (or will be) and he's always bloody injured! (Would still love us to put a cheeky bid in though, queue Arsenal gif :D)

Hmmmmmm...first thing I thought of was Jo!

Could have got Fellaini for that money. You can count successful Brazilians in the Prem on one hand. A gamble IMHO.

Fellaini, f*ck that, massively overrated.

You disagree yet name just Barry?

IMO Barry is too slow for top level CL football. I compare his to Alonso and De Rossi and he's pale in comparison.

I agree with what you say in rehards to hsi positives and I also claim him to be an on field manager and unoffical captain because he shaped the team well and covers mistakes made further upfield by destorying play and he makes crucial tackles or professional fouls to break up play. The problem is his lack of mobility and his inability to spray a ball 30-40 yards to make a counter attack.

I rate Barry, I just believe he's simply not a top player. If I was in charge of contracts I'd keep him on and offer a new 2-3 year deal and I'd offer a coaching role at end of contract to keep him at the club. He's an experienced head and footballing brain who's vital to our squad. My point is that we need an upgrade on him for the future to be strong and that's what we've done.

Barry stays, Garcia goes and is replaced by Kondogbia.

Yeh buy Fellaini for the same money and still have the same problem in midfield. Fellaini is not a very good midfielder, picks up too many bookings, is slow and isn't technically very good nor defensively. Moyes moved him upfront for a reason and look at how effective he is.

If he was such a good midfielder he would play there but he isn't.

So unless we are going to go out and buy some top drawer wingers, drop two strikers and play Fellaini behind Aguero there is no point in buying him.

Welcome back Tolmie.

This time, just let the haters hate. Simply ignore them and stick to having a good ol' harmless Transfer Forum natter with some blue friends.:-)

Still aside from Gilberto Silva.....hope I'm wrong. Give me an Argentine or a Spanish player every time.

you'd really be happy paying 23million for Fellaini?
