Yes, you keep saying that and then not telling us why other than some piffle about lack of call-ups. I think no matter our nationalities, we can be very certain that national team call-ups aren't a reliable judge of talent.

you are making it look like Love City wrote that, which he didn't?
Derp. My apologies and fixed.

Maybe this is not the thread but if the reports are right that Jose will move Luis out of the club. I would take him but play him in midfield and not as a defender.

Thiago Alcantara is the perfect CM. If he plays every game and develops a rhythm he would easily surpass the likes of Gotze, Oscar. Although Thiago is a bit of a deeper player, he can be pushed forward to devestating effect. He's scored an insane goal against United and also Bayern. Also against Real Madrid I've seen him dribble past Marcelo, Alonso, Khedira consecutively..
but we need someone with an engine, and who can be defensive

Yes I kind of agree, but why don't we place more trust on Jack Rodwell? Hopefully if he stays injury free he could be an important player for us? Then we could have Javi Garcia as back up. Fernandinho is good, but we can't judge him based on two performances against Chelsea. I'd still take him, but I think we need to put Jack into the starting 11 - we all know what happened to Sergio Busquets.
Because Rodwell plays much farther forward than Fernandinho/Garcia although Fernandinho and Thiago can play forward. Actually I'm not sure how deep you can get away with playing Thiago to be honest. I don't think Rodwell/Thiago could work for instance.

this is a slight worry maybe??

Jose Mourinho has targeted five summer signings to launch his second coming as Chelsea boss.

Early targets are understood to be Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic, Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko, Porto centre half Eliaquim Mangala, Roma’s Daniele De Rossi and Shakhtar Donetsk’s Fernandinho.

Mourinho has also made it clear to Romelu Lukaku, returning from a spell at West Brom, that he does not want him to leave on loan again. Kevin de Bruyne, who prefers the idea of a permanent move to Dortmund after a loan spell at Werder Bremen, will meet the new manager before a decision is made on his future.

Mourinho is moving Luiz out for a reason

Dzeko plus kola plus cash if need be, for Vidal. Juve have an interest in both these players and Vidal is exactly what we need for this position. I would break the bank for him. He's the best of the best and young 2.

Vidal is top quality, however,i'm not sure they'd want Dzeko and i'm positive they wouldn't want the combined 200/250k a week wages that accompanies them.

I just can't see that deal being attractive to them but if such was possible i imagine they'd want another 10/15m on top.

Option 1:
Yaya Fernandinho/Vidal

Thiago
Aguero Silva
Cavani

Option 2:
Rodwell Barry
Nasri
Navas Isco
Tevez

Option 3:

Garcia Milner

Suarez

Lopes ……??…
Guidetti

WOW, what a squad that would be ! plenty of rotation in there, title winners if ever i have seen them.

Is it because, like many of us, think he isn't that good?

And, I'm afraid, too much competition for too few places. How long would it take before a handful of the players mentioned above begins feeling unhappy about not playing regularly.

I thought Txiki's idea was to have five or six world class players at the club, with the numbers being made up by good, preferably but not a must, young, British players.
Always play the non-regular starters in the domestic cups, such as the Carling and FA. That's what they did at Barca and I expect to see the same here. It's the only way we'll stand a chance at bringing in (or keeping) good players, who might be considered starters at other clubs.

So the likes of Barry, Milner, Lescott, Guidetti, Rekik, Razak, Suarez, Lopez, Pozo could possibly be content to stay at the club if they knew they'd get the occasional PL appearance as well as a shot at the domestic cups. If not then why should they stay?

isn't that good doesn't come close - Mourinho will want much better than him

Bluemoon will explode if they sign De Rossi

Put Dzeko in a team with proper wingers/wingbacks that get up and down (ala Juve), a top class striking partner (allegedly after Higuain/Jovetic) and a creative/sturdy midfield behind (Asamoah, Vidal, Pirlo, Marchisio) and he'd score bucketloads IMO. I can't think of a better fit for them, apart from the other Edin of course.

That being said I can't see them selling Vidal unless he pushed for a move which is very unlikely. They would definitely be a good option if Dortmund/Napoli don't want him. As long as we get a decent fee we can pay full whack for Cavani.

I am way beyond being over De Rossi
I dno man. All this talk of him being "past it" aren't true IMO. A new challenge is what he wants, and a forward line of...

------------------------De Rossi----------Ramires------------------------------

---------Oscar--------------------Mata-------------------Hazard---------------

----------------------------------Cavani?----------------------------------------

...is actually terrifying.
Whenever we've played them we've essentially bossed the midfield... De Rossi is the type of player that stops that happening.

I'm not saying I want us to sign him, but i sincerely hope they don't get him either.

He isn't past it but he has certainly regressed over the last 12 months.

Luiz could play that role in midfield though, in my opinion. And Ramires isn't suited to a double-pivot. In fact, I don't rate him all that much, huge weak link in their midfield.

Really? For me Ramires is one of the best midfielders in the league. Bags of pace and energy, equal measure of ability in defensive/attacking, scores etc.

Him and Yaya would be a terrifying midfield.
