He isn't past it but he has certainly regressed over the last 12 months.

Luiz could play that role in midfield though, in my opinion. And Ramires isn't suited to a double-pivot. In fact, I don't rate him all that much, huge weak link in their midfield.

Do you actually watch any Chelsea games, Ramires has been pivotal in all that Chelsea achieved last year. Quality player and one that i would love alongside Yaya.

Ramires a huge weak link??!! Also I thought this thread was about Fernandinho

Hmm. Don't agree with you about ramires, he's a very good player with an excellent engine. Practically won the chumps league for them with an outstanding performance against Barcelona.

Yes, I do. Quick and has a good engine. Can't pass and can't tackle. He's a good player to have around and would be good in a three but him and Yaya in midfield? That's a ludicrous suggestion, neither can defend.

"The workrate of Ramires shines through when looking at tackling stats as he leads the club in not only tackles (102) but tackles per game (3.55)."

I stand corrected on that one then. He usually seems an inch away from causing injury.

He is a good runner. A very good runner but I don't believe he'd be good in a double-pivot. Prefer Mikel and Luiz from Chelsea's current players. Though on the right of a three? Ramires would be one of the first on the team sheet.

Shakhtar Donetsk are serious about Fernando del Gremio. And 'he player identified by Lucescu to replace Fernandinho, who will go to Manchester City. From Brazil comes the details of the transaction: Shakhtar offered € 13 million for Fernando, including commissions to agents and economic rights to the player. Napoli has an option on the player, but has not yet received any communication and ready to give the answer to the option. Fernando had also received an important offer from Spartak Moscow, but now it seems much closer to Ukraine.

Cut deep. Is rating a player not subjective?

Looking forward to seeing Cavani as a ten behind Agüero next year too.

Though if I were Mourinho, I'd try finding a way of playing Oscar in the middle before accommodating pretty much anyone else.

You'll be waiting a long time-

......cavani...................
.....................aguero...

That doesn't make cavani a 'false 10', you really should read properly but I'm sure you know how MP sets up with your encyclopaedic knowledge of the game...

And you're right, rating a player is subjective, the problem however is those with a modicum of tactical nous can see what Ramires brings without the above stats needing to be posted!!

Really? For me Ramires is one of the best midfielders in the league. Bags of pace and energy, equal measure of ability in defensive/attacking, scores etc.

Him and Yaya would be a terrifying midfield.

Ramires is quick. Without a doubt. However, he has no football intelligence and is a poor passer of the ball. He's a headless chicken who pops up with teh occasional goal. He helps out defensively by using his pace to chase down players but is a poor reader of the game. I'd much rather have Milner and Barry. Sadly, I would have to admit to wanting Ramires ahead of Garcia.

Yaya and Ramires in midfield would be an awful combination.

Shakhtar are finalising deals for 2 Brazilian midfielders today, Gremio's Fernando and Fluminese's Wellington Nem. Once completed I expected our target will move swiftly.

Wow, two brazilians international signed by Shakhtar: Fernando and Wellington Nem! (via @Fernando_Duarte )

Fernando_Duarte

Double coup by Shakhtar: they sign midfielder Fernando and winger Wellington Nem almost on the same day. #exodus

- I think that Fernandinho deal is imminent.

haha true that. I am pretty sure he is the best tackler at Chelsea, and most definitely not the worst !

none of these fuckers know - they just read the top rumours and then keep speculating, and eventually they get one right, but they know fuck all apart from what they read in the papers, or forums like this
