Fernandinho

Excellent game today I thought. He breaks up play quickly and uses it well. Better in the second half than the first though clearly.

All of the requisite qualities are there, just feel he needs a bit of time to adapt & get comfortable.

I think it might be wise to go out and get another DM as Yaya's defensive abilities are poor leaving Fernandinho to shoulder most of it, of course we could always bring Barry back into things and start playing Rodwell and Milner there too.

First half poor. Beast in the second half. I think he will be a great player for city.

the system played and tactics used in the first half weren't good for fernandinho.

second half it all changed.

-- Sat Aug 31, 2013 2:56 pm --

I really had doubts about him ever since we paid 30 m for a 28 year old defensive midfielder, the way he,s playing doesn't look half the value

he was man of the match, you muppet.

I think he's replacing the wrong person. I wouldn't even be upset if yaya left instead of Barry at this point.

was he really motm?
his most significant contribution to the match was to make a run into the righthand corner and play a perfect pass to a hull player to start their counter attack, which hull would have scored from if they hadnt been playing a striker who has not scored in over 1000minutes.
Firstly, its his role in the team to hold the middle of the park to prevent counter attacks from developing, so his movement, while admirable, is a big part of our porous midfield, secondly the cutback was insanely reckless. even in the newcastle game he make similar mistakes, at one point he tried to dribble into the box only to lose out and again start their counter attack, also when he got his yellow card it was a similar situation.
He needs more positional awarenness, less eratic passing

What a load of shite. You have been out for Fernandinho's neck before he even put on a City shit, so it's no surprise you were going to sling mud.

His most significant contribution, you twunt, was the amount of miles he had to run to keep us in the game.

Our midfield was porous because of the lack of proper implementation of early defending and pressure...I don't think Fernandinho was beaten 1 on 1 all game. When he wasn't favoured to win a challenge, he fouled discreetly, something you'd expect from a South American mid.

what !? yaya is one of the best in the world !

When?i don't disagree he's one of the most talented in the world, but he's not consistently one of the best, it doesn't even seem like he tries most of the time. In the first half he did something resembling running twice. At the very least zabaleta should be captain over him when kompany is out. Great free kick though.

Off pace in the 1st half with some under-hit, loose passing.

Much better in the second half. When he's up to speed he will be excellent.

However is it not a problem playing both he and Yaya as they play almost similar?

it has nothing to do with being consistent and everything to do with him having a tendency to take the gas off the pedal when winning or when playing against shitty teams.

most pundits agree yaya toure is one of the CM's on the planet. he is the backbone of our team.

yaya was peace of shit today.
lost every tackle, fernandinho did a huge job for us.
