why wouldn't he be. hull strikers + hull midfielders were marking him. they had him surrounded.

The real question marks should be hanging over Yaya 'I earn 250k a week and am still a lazy shite's head. The fucker can't even get off the floor without being given a hand up by opposition team members. I am seriously worried about his contribution. If he is what he have in the engine room for the rest of the season then we are in serious trouble. Serious trouble. To play with two i the middle like we are you need to have players who are giving 100%. I lost count of the amount times I saw him slugging about the pitch. The gaps we had through the middle were frightening. I am starting to really dislike him and his attitude.

Very blinkered and lacks any real insight into the game.... That's you not yaya

Yaya is currently sitting whilst fern finds his feet, the pace gets the better of him on occasions, 10-15 games in you'll see fern as the anchor and yaya further forward, which will benefit us greatly, yaya is on the same level as silva at unlocking a defence and as I stated before the season started, he'll bag double figures this year...... Also in case some are missing it fernandinho gets stronger as games wear on, already evident- when he's totally up to speed we have the complete package!

I don't understand why some city "fans" are so desperate for him to fail.
Simple, his price, as if it came out of their pocket.
Well I can tell you that season tickets haven't gone up anywhere near as significantly as our transfer spending. I would say the transfers come out of the owners pockets. I would also say that silva didn't look great when he first signed for us and ended up becoming a hero. I find it questionable as to why the first reaction from some blues is to jump on his back rather than get behind the lad. He had a poor first half today but really got stuck in during the second half.

He was very sloppy in the first half, as were the whole team for the most part - nobody was really showing for Kolarov on the left, Nasty understandably rusty, Lescott hesitant in decision making and painful in possession ...

These early kick-offs tend to produce sleepy opening halves from both team and supporters. We were probably guilty of underestimating Hull too ... Huddlestone is a class act if you give him time on the ball and Livermore was very tidy too.

Fernie was different gear after the break though, very efficient without doing anything spectacular. He made some forward passes that Ramires wouldn't have the nous to produce in his wildest dreams ... hopefully there'll be plenty more of this to come as he gets more comfortable in his new surroundings.

Cut the boy some slack.we always expect foreign players to move to this country and hit the ground running. We were lucky that sergio did but not many do

Because they have set their stall out and have egos so big they now want him to fail so they can have their 'I told you so' moment. Seen it before with other players. These people can barely be considered fans.

Exactly ... the short termism here is ridiculous ! Particularly for a centre mid in a new, more competitive and physical league who is being asked to play a slightly different role than he did at Donetsk.

That being said, Alvaro seems to have hit the ground sprinting !

There are 2 points here.

1) It's perfectly reasonable to tell others to "give him a chance", "it's only 3 games in" etc etc etc. HOWEVER, this doesn't mean that (predictably) you should lie about what a great contribution the guy is making. He hasn't so far. Early days though and doesn't mean he won't.

2) You sound like a complete tool if you TELL others that this guy "will be the best midfielder in the PL" and other similarly outlandish statements given that there's no doubt at all that over the last 8 years you haven't seen a single kick of Ukrainian football and subsequently haven't actually got a clue. One tie against Chelsea (of which if you're honest you've probably only actually seen -like me - the goal he scored) is not enough to judge whether he'll be a success. If you think it is then have a word with yourself.

On the ball he is world class also he is not a holdings midfielder when there is only 2 in there and YAYA is not on 250k a week since he signed his new contract he is on 140k plus incentives

I think you're right. Ridiculous.

He's been the best midfield player so far, as has to do fat lump's work and has even started to show signs of being a threat going forward. He will also be pushing hard to get in the Brazil squad and so has serious motivation to have a great season. Always need a player like this.

Absolute dross today. Couldn't win the ball for love nor money. He was taken out of the game so many times by Hull's midfield. The game simply passed him by .Garcia would have been a better option today.

Technically a good player, but still getting to grips with the league. Got taken out of the game by Hulls midfield on numerous occasions, but so did Yaya to be fair. Too early to judge still.

Good points, well made.

Today, he looked like an average player at most. Maybe I expect too much and am guilty of looking at the price tag, but I expected something special and just haven't seen that. He is not a young player and if his best game is what we've seen to date, he's been a waste of money.

Milner and/or Barry must get the start ahead of him at Stoke.
