Absolute dross today. Couldn't win the ball for love nor money. He was taken out of the game so many times by Hull's midfield. The game simply passed him by .Garcia would have been a better option today.

yeh his speed and technical skill would've really been the answer to all our problems.

It appears everything I feared when I heard about the transfer was confirmed today. Not saying he couldn't be a quality player but for £30 million I expect him to be shitting gold bricks every minute. He looked like he was worth £7 million today, and that's with City (as is usual) being taken for a ride.

Barry and De Jong were still far better CDMs than what I've seen from Fernandinho, and yet Pellegrini insists on playing him in the starting 11, no doubt he's forced to after spending that ridiculous amount of money on him

Okay, no negativity for negativity's sake, having read previous posts I think he does need a bit more time - just not half a season - to find his feet, but if he is anything like as good as his admirers think he is he needs to get a move on. Agree with those who pointed out his improved performance in the second half against Hull, did start to look a quality player and i'm sure we'll start to see a consistent class act very soon. If we are to make the most of his attributes and get the best out of him and lazy arse Yaya, they need an oppo to complete this midfield triumvirate, someone to do the vital if unglamourous midfield defensive donkey work, in other words fill the vacant NDJ role, and for me that should be Milner. Grit, pride, passion, timing, stamina and nous in abundance, although some may think he would be wasted in such role.

Not saying that, just that he would have been better than Fernandinho.

Without him today i think Hull would have beaten us,Huddlestone was a beast and Fernandinho helped tame him.
Yaya certainly wasn't up to that task and should not be deployed any longer in a defensive role.

As for Garcia being superior?? please......

have not been impressed at all with him so far.Just hoping he comes good.Milner offers far more, but can he play CM?

People are ignoring that Fernandinho is trying to do the work of two men at times and is all over the place in midfield. Yaya is a great player but he picks and chooses when he wants to be a great player and he's setting a pretty bad example of work ethic as acting captain. Pellegrini's system demands two midfielders doing all the dirty work because it's so attack-based, but only one is trying to do the dirty work as it stands so no wonder we are getting overrun. But blame Fernandinho, who is quickly becoming the new BM scapegoat even though he actually hasn't been NEARLY as bad as some are saying. In fact, I don't think he has been bad at all really, just sloppy at times. There's an imbalance in midfield at the moment and Yaya is causing it more than Fernandinho. We actually have no specialised defensive midfielder left now except Garcia, which is scary.

Still think it should be 6/7 games before we can judge properly. Early signs are not great and similar to Garcia when he signed. He hasn't got any better but hopefully Fernandinho will.

If he doesn't then he needs to be dropped and Milner or Rodwell given a chance.

I am not sure we can afford the luxury of both Silva and Navas in games with the midfield we have.

I would expect to see Milner in against Stoke and I would line up with him and Fernandinho holding with Yaya playing further forward.

Nasri and Silva supporting Negredo up front.

Aguero and Navas making way for that game.

I would choose a one legged Aguero over Nasri for any game. Ever.

Honestly, Nasri in the team in place of Aguero. Heard it all now.

Well maybe not Nasri then but Aguero has been poor so far and against Stoke we can't afford 2 forwards the way we are playing.

In fairness Nasri has looked better in the glimpses I've seen so far this season, including his work-rate which was often questioned...

As for Fernandinho, I'm not convinced yet but I think he deserves a bit of time. However he was treading thin ice with his fouling again today and I think he has to watch this aspect of his game. No harm in alternating him with Milner & Rodwell (whom I both rate) whilst he beds in, as they equally deserve a chance.

I got laughed off here when I started the thread "no more Brazilians was the cry".
Gut reaction is he ain't up to much in the League. Hope I'm wrong but with having Robinho, Jo and co take the piss previous I don't hope for much. Fucking Owen taking the piss giving him MoM too?!

Too early to make a final decision.

I get the feeling though, that a Yaya-Fernandinho 2 man pairing is like that of Gerrard -lampard. In a 3 man with someone protecting the back 4 (a de Jong or Barry sort...) they'd be quite fearsome.

Don't you just love BlueMoan? We have played 3 games.
Hart - makes mistakes, including England, can't distribute well. Zab. had a 'mare' at Cardiff. Clichy the same - got benched today. Kolorov is the 'butt' of all on here. Lescott - useless in possession!. Vinny - legend. Nasty - glad he is back after injury. Our midfield is over run - 2 players usually will be outnumbered by 5. Yaya is a' lazy donkey'
I feel he should be played forward more. Where is Nigel De Jong when we need him. Fernandinho - 'not worth £30m' .Dzeko blows hot and cold. Silva - not on form. Aguero not 100% fit. Nasri has been slated on here.
Navas and Negredo will do for me.
So, what is our problem?. We are slow and pedestrian in possession. I think room should be made for Milner.- playing right of midfield. Teams like Cardiff , Hull , Sunderland ,Stoke ,West Ham , will outnumber us in midfield.
I think we should forget "a back 3" and play a back 4. Which means that Zab. and Clichy do not have to 'bomb' forward.
A middle 3 -possibly -Milner , Yaya , Fernandinho.(although he is right-footed)
A front 3 out of - Navas , Negredo , Silva , Aguero ,Dzeko , Jovetic(not seen him play)
I realise this team is unbalanced. So I give up and leave it all to Pellegrini. He has got good references.

I'm reserving judgement whilst we don't have Vince behind him and Yaya as he looked much better in the barcodes game.
