Fernandinho

He didn't need to make that tackle for the second booking at all.

It's obvious the World Cup affected him, but I think he needs a run of games. Starting one game, then getting dropped the next is not helping his already low confidence.

Give him a run of games, he'll regain his confidence and get back to the player he was last season.

I've watched it a few times, and I really struggle to see him stepping into, or even leaning into the CSKA player. Certainly no more than the CSKA player when Yaya got sent off.

Just turned his back and stayed on the same spot.

This is what I thought at the time. Crappenberg in his pomp would have called that 'a coming together' and would have wrung his hands Pontius Pilate-like and play would have been waved on. Obstruction used to be a case of a player MOVING into the line of an opponent. Saw Messi run into someone last night on the highlights and the poor hapless defender was sent off. It's ridiculous. You should not be required to get out of the way of a player who happens to have the ball at their feet. Running into a player is not being obstructed. But this is what coaching and CL is about. Bend the Laws, take advantage, look aggrieved and the incompetent with the whistle will fall for it.

Needs to get his head out if arse. The World Cup has destroyed him.

He certainly does. Fucking garbage this year.
Just an average midfielder that you wouldn't notice if he played for any other prem team. Nothing more and nothing less than a average centre mid always was and always will be...Slightly better than Fernando who is simply De Jong lite

Yeah just your average Brazilian international who was excellent last season.
The problem isn't the World Cup - it's because he's unsure of his position in the team and his role this year. Must be frustrating to be instrumental in the Title win and then return to be out of the side.

It was cynical, much like the lad on Yaya, just more blatant.

Both deserving of a yellow,unfortunately......the petulant lumps reaction negated theirs. .

I actually don't know why Eremenko (if it was him) didn't get a yellow for the challenge on Yaya if Fernandinho got one. It would have been his second too, of course. Yaya being an idiot and correctly sent off is one thing, but wouldn't have been the correct decision to give us a freekick for the initial foul AND give Yaya a red card for overreacting? In that case, even a yellow wouldn't have been a bad decision, given the cards Fernandinho obtained...

People have short memories dont they. He was class last season for us, but like you say this season has struggled due to a. Yaya disapearing in games in a CM 2 which just pulls either Fernando or fern all over the place and makes them look poor and. b. he hasnt had any kind of run in the side to shake that WC off.

Id MP doesnt adjust his tactics and formation then both Fernando and Fern will always struggle playing in a MF 2 with Yaya.

Seems a totally different player post world cup.

Things is mate he wanted to come to us so badly so that he would get noticed in a big league like ours to get in the World Cup squad.

Now he's had his moment in the sun in the World Cup in his own country he just doesn't look interested, and at the age he is he will be another one who will run his contract down and will be worth next to little if we wanted to sell him.

You really do have to question our transfer policy to be honest, who has been a success of the Players Txiki/Pellegrini signings?

Another one I think that's suffered because he's been left out of the team, too many changes all the time, we really need to find a settled starting XI
