Bearing in mind Garrido has been issued with a squad number these things can easily change ;-)

You really think there's any chance of a deal being done for Torres this window? I just don't see it. Nobody I know at City is even remotely confident. Some are even saying we've moved on...

I sort of wish the player himself would say something...

2 things I am aware of re: Torres - 1. we walked away but never said never 2. There are certain other teams who have stepped aside and left us free access.

So if City are interested AND Torres is interested then he becomes a City player.

However Mancini has made it clear that the player has to want to come, he wont try to convince him.

Lastly there WAS a conversation between Mancini and the player as late as last week (some say to was Mancini and the players agent but its more or less the same thing).

I remain convinced of only one thing, CIty would buy if the player wanted to come.

That's sort of my point. Ultimately, the player doesn't seem to want to come to City - which is why I remain highly skeptical. It could well be that the cumulative effect of all our signings could convince him though...and either way, if he does come, I'll be delighted simply because he's another world class player we've added to our squad...

But it is interesting that all we now need do as a club is put our name in the frame and wait for positive noises.

The manager has said his piece to the player and in essence has said 'its your choice, be part of a bright future or a bright past'.

That is very much more positive than under Hughes where he didn't know when to walk away and ended up throwing money at players well past a sensible place.

Not fussed about Torres, yes if he signed I would be running around the room as giddy as fuck but this is all about the player wanting to play for our club. I can understand if he stays put or joins the blue revolution matter for him and there is nowt I can say on here which will make any difference so my stance is pithily unarsed.

TH made a comment recently reminding us that Torres is injured and unavailable for the majority of August. Perhaps there was an inferred comment that the deal will be done once he is recovered.

Why sign him now and pay a month of his wages while he is unfit to play?

And its defo not a hold up on the medical as we all know even a dead man would pass a medical at City.

Now thats a different situation. Hughes had to convince top class players to join city even though we finished tenth and he did a great job in that transfer window and no-one can deny that.

Anyone else not want torres?

...one of the best strikers in the world today...and we can afford to get him fit (not a career threatening injury he has) - I just don't get it peoples negativity about him!

Fernando Torres and City mentioned in the same breath? Bloody does it for me, but Ive been here 35 years....

Please add me to the list of people who think Hughes was incapable of getting the best names (and upcoming talent) into the club.

Even I could have convinced Lescott and Bridge with the money on offer, the difference is I wouldnt have bothered.

Kolarov, better, stronger, faster and younger than Bridge and CHEAPER

Boateng ditto for Lescott

etc etc
