THis stuff breaking about the liverpool takeover being done before the window shuts is pure Bullshit IMO.

It takes forever to buy a prem club 2 - 3 months at least, there is no indication any of the potential buyers have even done due diligence yet, let alone fit and proper persons etc.

Even our owners took a couple of months to buy city - with one motivated owner and unlimited cash - I doubt they even did due diligence !

Its Liverpools attempt to keep their best players happy till the window shuts so they cant leave - dont worry we are being bought by a billionaire and will be signing loads of world class players before teh window shuts.

Even if the takeover happens in the next week or so (very very unlikley) they wont be able to make any big signings - look at the problems we have been having it takes an age to agree a deal for the best players in this market.

Wouldn't now be a good time to fax a 50M offer to Hicks and Gillette for Torres, so they can take away some more money just before any takeover????

We'll be doing (or will have already done) all we can to get Torres. If he's not ready to come then that's that. Even if he is ready to come, nobody has considered there's the fact that we're playing Liverpool in 3 weeks. Would they want to risk him being fit for that one? I doubt it. The damage a Torres inspired hammering could do to their season doesn't bear thinking about. I'm sure they'd rather sell him after then if he is leaving. Transfer window still has a month to run.

Due diligence should take at least a month on a deal of the complexity of Liverpool.

The board are about to open the books on their preferred bidder so I would be astounded if anything were done before the end of September

Of course it's being assumed that Huang is the preferred bidder when in reality heis merely the only one we KNOW about. The preferred bidder might be someone else and as yet we don't know what deadlines, if any, they may have set........
