Fernando Torres Update

Money alone isn't enough to tempt Torres. He wants CL football and we can't offer it. Chelsea will win the race here IMO. Quite how they will keep Drogba, Torres and Anelka happy is another story!!

Torres wants CL football, and whilst we can't offer it neither can Liverpool.

Taking into account the fact that they have no manager, no money, massive unrest there is little chance of them improving on last years' non-qualification next season and only us and Chelsea (of the clubs that can afford him) are in the market for a striker then you can say that he will make one of 3 choices.

1 - Chelsea

2 - Us

3 - Waste a season at Liverpool and hope that Barca get disenchanted with one of Pedro, Ibra & Villa (Real can be counted out because of his Athletico links)

Realistically it's an almost perfect storm of circumstances in our favour (in previous years there would have been Barca, Valencia, Chelsea, Utd, Inter, AC, Juventus)

I can't see Chelsea financing both Torres and Kaka deals so it all depends on where they think there priorities are?.......for me that's Kaka!

Tolmie just gave info on Torres, if we had got 4th Torres would be a blue, but now we are currently third in the race behind him staying put and going to Chelsea so it looks like we have moved on to new targets

What a waste of money !

with this kind of money we can buy 3 or 4 world class players

I agree with him that if we got 4th Torres would be a City player now but what i'm saying is that Chelsea wont get Torres and Kaka and i'm led to believe Kaka is more of a Priority to them.

Kaka to Chelsea kind of makes sense doesn't it? Linking up with a much respected former manager often appeals to players, especially when they feel unloved at their current club, which is why I reckon Ibrahimovic to City could be a goer. Unfortunately, this could bankroll Madrid's efforts to sign some of our main targets, but could leave the market open for the likes of Aguero and Torres.

Torres won't be moving this summer. There will only be a few clubs who could acctually afford him, us, Chelsea and real Madrid.

Now we all know that Torres is a former atletico player and supported them as a boy (I think he liked Liverpool aswell) and therefor won't be moving to real. I think if Liverpool was to sell him this summe they would be looking for 60-80m which I really really doubt Chelsea would make a bid that high. If Chelsea was to bid I think it would be around 40m which we could easily raise that. I don't think torres would come to usthis summer due to no champions league, therefor I think he will stay another year and then leave in the summer for a less asking price I reckon around 50m which will end up with a host of clubs battling.

Personally I would rather have Ibra, we all know that he could play all 50-60 games a season whereas Torres around 25.
