Apparently the "complications" is a dispute between Porto and Fernando about loyalty bonus. City and Porto have agreed terms, this is what I have read couple of days back.waspish said:Don't understand this? Have Porto changed the goal posts? Has his agent? Or are city?
Fernando played for the u20s though, which he didn't receive a cap for. Motta received 2 caps for Brazil before playing for ItalyColinLee said:Because Motta possesses dual nationality – his paternal grandfather is Italian.thesilvalining said:Whys he not allowed to play for Portugal but thiago motta is allowed to play for Italy despite having 2 caps for Brazil? Seems a bit unfair to meFernando played a competitive match (or matches?) for Brazil before he applied for Portuguese nationality. So fair has nothing to do with it, it's the rules.FIFA granted players to have one chance to change their representing nation if they had dual nationality, but not for players who have already played in a competitive "A" match (non-friendly)
I disagree the O is in the correct position.blue b4 the moon said:Plain Speaking said:The size of the lettering would be smaller for the longer name.bluesince76 said:what's the chances of that being FERNANDinhO folded up, a bit like Zabalateta's done for Bale?
The 'O' is seperate from the rest of the letters.
Some fans like to have the shirts as soon as the players sign. The templates are made to make the printing process quicker.Mancitybluemoon1 said:Plain Speaking said:The size of the lettering would be smaller for the longer name.bluesince76 said:what's the chances of that being FERNANDinhO folded up, a bit like Zabalateta's done for Bale?
Guys, sorry to ask a silly question but why would be be printing his name on shirts before we announced his signing?
thank you

Were not printing his name on shirts.
That photo quite simply shows we have stock of his name ready to print on shirts once the signing is confirmed.
Maybe there has been some progress with Mangala and the Fernando deal has been put on hold.Mancitybluemoon1 said:So much for done deal?......guess some of us were play to flap!!......now we know there is a reason this is taking so long....

I read somewhere that Mangala has joint ownership. If Porto were to do a deal that involved Fernando we could pay more for him and less for Mangala so Porto get more. That's why a deal for both has been on the cards.Mancitybluemoon1 said:Mancini Manus Domini said:Maybe there has been some progress with Mangala and the Fernando deal has been put on hold.Mancitybluemoon1 said:So much for done deal?......guess some of us were play to flap!!......now we know there is a reason this is taking so long....

I think Fernando and Mangala will be 2 different deals(if we do sign Managla) but for Fernando to return to Brazil....this thing must not even be close......sounds more like a deadlock to me!
LoveCity said:Nothing to do with Mangala (whose future won't be settled till after the World Cup and even then it's not just a fee with Porto that has to be agreed, the player has to be convinced), it's some payment dispute.
It'd help if someone who could read Portuguese well could translate that article (<a class="postlink" href="https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BqKrlZyCQAA71GA.jpg:large" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BqKrlZyCQAA71GA.jpg:large</a>) because the online version is behind a pay wall. However, the deal still seems most likely to go through once it's sorted, the player probably just got sick of sitting around waiting for suits to sort out details so went back to his holidays (which he had cut short to sign for City). He'll probably be on the first plane over when it's sorted.
