News from Portugal:

Fernando stays at Porto till the end of season. City was allowed to pay 3/4M now but Porto wants to Fernnado stay and training apart of the group,he will not play anymore game till the end of season. he had a agreement with Porto for a new contract and he broke this agreement...

This sounds made up.
Last Game Fernando faked a injury, very bad professional.game over for him.

Sky Sports' Transfer Centre is claiming that Marcos Lopes is the player Porto want on loan as part of the Fernando deal.
thats not true. Porto wants 8M€ now,or he will stay till the end of the season.

We wanted Casemiro from Real to replace him but we hadnt a deal for him.

That would be a brilliant deal. Lopes needs regular games at a decent level.

I would be happy with that as long as it doesn't end up with Lopes going to Porto permanently.

The rest of Europe are hardly going to think, "oh, oh we better not fuck with Porto "
It's not a message to other clubs though. It's a message to their other players. Similar to when Fernando Llorente was frozen out by Athletic Bilbao last season.

But why choose a lose - lose situation when you could at least get a few quid and prevent bad feeling within the team???
Partly because Pinto da Costa is a very, very stubborn man and partly because they don't think it's a lose-lose situation. If playing hard-ball helps them in the future with players who want to leave, then they aren't going to miss a few million euros.

It's annoying for us but it makes sense for Porto.

but that's what porto do,they must have a great scouting set up,but porto are a selling club, dont mean to be disrespectful btw.
yes,we know that,we can't compete with the big clubes. but it's hard. every year we have to build a new team,it's hard.
Tbf you do have the advantage of it being a two team league (sporting have been shocking for years) which makes it easier for you to integrate the best young talents in the world. Same with sides like Shakhtar and Benfica.

Just to wade into the De Jong debate, he had a contract with an active release clause for 2-3m. But he had made a verbal agreement to sign a new contract. Doesn't really explain how it ended up at 18m but there you have it.
Four words 'That clueless prick Hughes'
I doubt that Hughes dealt with contractual arrangements.
