if we get Fernando, i think i have the ideal tune for him i just have to think of some lyrics <a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=0yM52IEMA8U" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... yM52IEMA8U</a>
He's also nicknamed 'The Octopus' in Porto. Perhaps some lyrics to Octopus's Garden by the Beatles may be a bit easier.

So I bet he will cost us a few squid ?

Nice one ;)

The drop off in terms of natural ability from Yaya/Fernandinho down to Javi Garcia is marked, so much so that it's noticeable when we have to play Garcia as the pressure on whoever plays alongside him to carry the burden is huge. It's an area (along with right back) that I've said for a whle needs to be addressed. Now I don't really know much about this Fernando guy, but those who do seem to think he'd fit in nicely with the way we play. He'll allow us to rotate the Yaya/Fernandinho partnership more, and injuries in that area won't be as problematic with a third quality option. Depending upon the cost we should probably look to tie him down now rather than wait for next season, £3m or £4m, on a 4 year contract, is chicken feed really, although if Porto are asking for £8m that's a little steep given his contract situation. If Marcos Lopes is to go the other way, on a loan deal, then that can only be beneficial to City. He'll get more first team opportunities, the Portuguese league will be an easier one for him to transition into first team football in too.

Interesting last night that Demichelis went into the defensive midfield role and Garcia played at centre back. Seemed to work quite well. Garcia obviously had a lot of time on the ball due to the extra man. Demichelis did well again in the middle of the park. I think we could see more of that if required, however, it makes little difference - when defending a lead and keeping the ball I have faith in Garcia and Demichelis in midfield but when looking to intercept and quickly start attacks as you say the gulf between Fernandinho/Yaya and these two is monumental. Fernandinho even more so as the work he does off the ball to harrass the opposition and steal it back is the fundamental reason we can attack at pace and exploit space.

??? Thought Nastasic came on ????

Haha! Sorry, was thinking in my head about the value of Demichelis in midfield over Garcia and then Garcia took over everything. I might try and confuse myself more in relation to Garcia, he scored a good penalty last night too ;)

I'm at work, so can't click on youtube clips, or see what that is, but it had better not be ABBA or I'm banning you on principle.

Instrumental version without ABBA in the video. He scraped through

So where is this up to?

From what i've picked up on twitter and other non credible outlets, we're in for Fernando but might get Mangala as well with Garcia going the other way as part of the deal and some City representitives have flown up to sort it out.

Yay or nay? Or ish?

There was something in the air that night
The stars were bright, Fernando
They were shining there for you and me
For liberty, Fernando
Though we never thought that we could lose
There's no regret
If I had to do the same again
I would, my friend, Fernando

Garcia put in the best performance of his City career under the guise of Nastasic, Pellegrini has flown to Malaga to meet Mangala, Fernando and Fernandinho are brothers from other mothers and meanwhile someone's singing ABBA songs to an octopus.
